Re: WAX File Extension

2010-01-14 Thread Sylvia
Hi Tom,
I did a search for this file type, and I got two possible matches.
The first entry says audio advanced streaming format, and the second
possibility is that it may be a windows media audio redirector. As for
playing the file, I'm not sure what to suggest.

Subject: WAX File Extension

Hi list: This may be considered a stupid question by some on here..but am
gonna ask it anyway: what (exactly)..is a WAX file? Here's my reason for
asking: a little while back, I managed to save something (or at least I
thought I was saving it)..the program in question was a show that had been
archived on the WSM (Nashville Tennessee Radio station)..website; at that
time, I had no way to record the program, so I was able to save it (the
file in question is a WAX file; the site has since changed..and that
particular show has been removed..and the file that I saved? Well..it no
longer will play! I tried converting it to an MP3 file, thinking it might
play. But I got a message saying that the file was not a legitimate sound
file (or something to that effect)..it suggested that I play the file and
record it..which..of course, won't work for me because the file no longer
play! So I guess my question is: is there any way I can make this file
play? Or is it dead in the water.and the only thing I now can do with the
file is to delete it? Hopefully I have explained this clearly enough so
it is understandable! Thanks for listening.

Re: zenstone for totally blind comuter users

2009-10-14 Thread Sylvia
I had a zen stone plus with a display, and at first, it was difficult to use
until another blind user explained how to make it more user friendly. In all
honesty, I wouldn't recommend the zen stone plus to anyone. I haven't tried
the other models, but I think I'll just stick with the Ipod nano.

Yes, absolutely, however there are a few different flavors of the Zen Stone.
If you're talking about one of the Zen Stones that doesn't have a display
then it's totally accessible. There's no display for the blind or the
sighted alike, so it's just as accessible for the blind as it is the
sighted. The Zen Stone with External Speaker is one such model of the Zen
Stone. The original Zen Stone is another. There's also the Zen Stone Plus,
which has a display. I don't have any personal experience with this model,
to know if a blind person can get used to navigating the different menus.
Also, if the model has an FM radio then it would be a model with a display.

it comes up in the file wizard and once I select the file(s) I want to
convert it just starts the conversion process. I use the JAWS cursor to

I was a devoted user of CDRWIN to burn Cds and DVDs mostly for storing MP3
and other files, but also Making music CDs. My new computer and its CD/DVD
drive is not recognized by CDRWIN, which seems to have ceased updates. I
would be greatful for recommendations on burning programs that work well
with JAWS, and will verify the integrity of the files burned to disc.
Ripping is not a priority because I have other programs for that. I doubt
that I need the complexity of Exact Audio Copy, but I'd appreciate
suggestions from list members.

12, and I haven't received a response when seeking advice from the program's

With that in mind, what would you recommend for a ripper that yields good
results while getting along with a screen reader. I have Window-eyes and
System Access on board.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

2009-02-13 Thread Sylvia
Hi list,
A few days ago, someone sent me some software for splitting files.
Unfortunately, I have lost most of my messages in outlook express and that
particular messages was one of them. I would be greatful if the software
could be resent to me.
Thanks in advance.
Sylvia.

Re: A DVD cost comparison question

2009-02-13 Thread Sylvia
I also have a question relating to burning with dvd's. Do all dvd writers
support dual layer disks?

Subject: A DVD cost comparison question

I have been using 4-gig DVDs for backups of audio files.
But lately I have begun to wonder if the double layer DVDs
might be just about as economical. Additionally, can anyone
point me to any articles comparing the long term reliability
of single layer versus double layer DVDs?

Thanks.

Re: m4p files

2009-02-08 Thread Sylvia
There are programs that will convert these files, but I was told that if you
burn these files to a cd and then copy them from the cd back to your pc they
should work fine. Let me know if you want further instructions.

I need to convert an audio file type with the extension of .m4p.
Nothing I have will play it nor convert it. Tried Goldwave, CDex and
Easy CD DA Audio Extractor. None of these can even see the file let
alone convert it to anything usible. Does anyone know how to convert
this file type? Thanks.

has anyone ever heard of tunebite?

2009-02-03 Thread Sylvia
Hi list,
I have recently found a program that will perform similar functions as Sound
Taxi. Has anyone heard of a program called Tunebite? If so, what are your
thoughts regarding this program?

program to split large audio files

2009-02-02 Thread Sylvia
Hi list,
I hope this question is on topic. Does anyone know of a program that can
split large audio files into smaller mp3's? I have some audio books that are
a single file and I would like to split these into smaller files.
Sylvia.

Re: Batch Conversion With Sound Taxi

2009-01-28 Thread Sylvia
Hi Rob,
I also have Sound Taxi, and to my knowledge, you don't really need scripts
in order to convert files.
Sylvia.

I just purchased Sound Taxi to convert my digital music from WMA lossless to
MP3 format to play in an MP3 player. Are there JAWS scripts or a
demonstration for using Sound Taxi?

Re: soundtaxi

2009-01-23 Thread Sylvia
I just bought the platinum version myself and I think I'll stick with that.
The only thing I don't like about the platinum edition is that you can only
convert two tracks at a time.
Sylvia.

Hi gang,
I've been using Soundtaxi Platinum for awhile, but now I've bought Soundtaxi
Professional, which is suppose to be 50 percent faster, but I don't see any
difference in the two.
I wonder if anyone else has found this?
If anyone knows of a way to make it faster, please let me know.
If there is not, I suggest you stick with the Platinum, which is about
$10.00 cheaper.
