Hello. After a computer crash, I have lost a little information and a lot
of functionality.

I cannot remember the name and URL for the little free program that lets you
choose your sound source to record on a pc.

I restored this computer to default and then upgraded to windows 10
Anniversary Edition. Since then, even running as an administrator, I cannot
schedule or record with Replay Radio, or schedule with Tapin Radio Pro. I
have yet to figure this out. If anybody can suggest why the same computer
which used to run windows 10 has now lost these abilities in windows 10
anniversary Edition, I would love to understand it; my Google search didn't
help.

This beaker containing all the amplification stuff does get hot. If you
leave it on for a long time. If you just turn it off when you're not using
it, it's fine. But if you forget and leave it on for a long time as I have
done on occasion, yes, it does get hot.

Well I’ve seen and listened to them enough and I’ve never noticed any real
heat generation from them though to be perfectly fair I’ve never used a
pair over a long period of time in a home environment so I put the

I’m sure the MM1’s generate a little heat but - as I’ve seen them thus
far - no more than body heat type temperature.

Subject: Re: i have some questions about mp3 direct cut

Hello, I have used MP3DirectCut for years. Because of previous
inquiries I have written up a basic guide to keyboard commands for
this editor. Enjoy.
Jeff

MP3 Direct Cut is a free direct mp3 editor, splitter, cutter and recorder.
Download MP3 DirectCut from
http://www.mpesch3.de

Play and Stop by using the SpaceBar.
During playback, the F8 key will increase playback speed and F7 will
decrease it.

Rewind and fast forward using cursor left and right or page-up and
page-down.

The latter two keys move in larger increments than the first two.
The number of frames each pair moves can be set via the configuration menu.

How to mark beginning and end points of a selection for deletion,
saving as a separte file, etc:
While playback is stopped,
Use the letter b to mark the beginning of a selection
Use the letter n to mark the end of a selection

The following commands use the numbers row above the letter keys,
not the numeric keypad on the right side of the keyboard.
These commands move by frame. One frame is roughly a 38th of a second:
1: Move the beginning mark of a selection one frame to the left
2: Move the beginning mark of a selection one frame to the right
3: Move the end mark of a selection one frame to the left
4: Move the end mark of a selection one frame to the right

With the following keys, one can exactly hear, where the margins of a
selection are:
F5: Plays the two seconds before the beginning mark of a selection
F6: Plays the first two seconds of a selection
F7: Plays the last two seconds of a selection
F8: Plays the two seconds after the end mark of a selection
F9: Plays a portion of the file around the selection as if the
selection had been deleted

To remove a selection one can press the delete key.
This does not touch the MP3 file.
It just modifies an MP3DirectCut index.
Therefore, cuts are made quickly.

There are also menu options and shortcut keys to save a selection
into a different file.
For instance, Ctrl-E will save the selection with the opportunity to
choose its own filename.
and Ctrl-W will save the entire audio using the current name or edit
it to something different.

To split an MP3 file, which consists of a complete album, one can use
the pause detection feature, which can be reached via the menu system.
It will set a marker before each song. These markers are actually
selections with a length of zero.
To check the markers, one can go from one to the other with Control
cursor right and Control cursor left.
The file can then be split according to the markers.
Or one can save a cue sheet file or an MP3 DirectCut project file.
Both would contain the markers.
With these marker files, one can easily find certain positions in an MP3
file.

To go to a specific time position within the audio file, use Control-p.
The displayed edit box is a bit odd.
Don't delete the words in it, just modify the numbers for the
current file position.
One has to leave in place the apostrophes, which separate hours
minutes and seconds.
The program needs these apostrophes

Then, there are the recording shortcuts.
r: Opens the record dialog, in which sighted people can adjust the
recording level
p: Starts the recording, when the recording dialog is open
s: Stops the recording.

There is a way to join files with mp3Directcut, but it is a bit of a fiddle.

1. Open the first file.

2. Press ctrl+c to copy it to the clipboard.

3. Open the next file.

4. Press ctrl+v to paste from the clipboard. This will place the contents
of the clipboard before your current file, effectively

joining the two.

Is something wrong or does it take a long time to search?

Re: Creating a playlist with Winamp

2012-02-21 Thread chris ramsay
DON go into winamp then find the play list editor. there you
can simply hit the letter l and winamp will say add to playlist editor.
then tab over til you find your computer and its folders and navigate to
where your favorite songs for the playlist are then select one or many hit
enter and they will be in the playlist. repeat this many times and you will
have your list. then to save it hit control s and name the playlist
anything you like by tabbing to the appropriate spot. then you are done.

I am hopeful that another list member will provide step by step
instructions of how to create an m3u playlist using Winamp. I do not
have Winamp pro, just the regular version of Winamp.

Incidentally, I also need to know whether all of the songs in the
playlist must be in the same folder.

I would also like to learn to use the playlist feature in Total Recorder
if someone would be so kind as to provide that info.

Thanks for feedback.

saddened to tell you that DJC AKA Don Coco passed this morning in CA of
an apparent heart attack. He'll be missed on the World Wide Legend doing
his 9 to midnight Saturday night show EDT. I hope that someone can care
for his wife Julie. I was told she's wheelchair bound. Just hope more
importantly he was saved. Pass this along if you wish. Just found out

H1 Handy Recorder: New Portable Stereo Recorder Announced
June 20, 2010

At Summer NAMM 2010, Zoom introduced its new handy dandy portable
recorder, the H1 Handy Recorder.

The H1 gets its stereo imaging from its onboard microphones configured in
an X/Y pattern. According to Zoom, because both mics are arranged on the
same axis, they are equidistant from the sound source for perfect
localization and no phase shifting, resulting in great stereo recordings
with natural depth and accurate imaging.

This handy recorder sports all of its functions on the surface so you
don't have to scroll through any menus. Its backlit display features
recording levels, file format, time elapsed, remaining battery life, and
recording time. All the main controls are located on the side with no
menus on the screen -- a large record button, playback and pause, marker,
forward and rewind, volume, and so forth. The back of the unit has a
single AA battery compartment, a tripod mount, low-cut filter, auto level
setting, recording format selectable switches, and a mount for a strap or
lanyard clip.

Likewise one side of the recorder sports a 1/8-inch stereo line input, USB
port, Power On switch, and Hold switch. On the other side, you can replace
your microSD card by folding down the rubberized door, or access a
1/8-inch stereo line / headphone output with adjustable volume control for
monitoring playback.

Recording versatility in is order for the H1 as well; the H1 offers
recording format flexibility from 16-bit, 44.1 kHz to 24-bit, 96 kHz WAV,
or MP3 from 48 kbps to 320 kbps, plus enough onboard tools to make clear
recordings out of the box without having to edit them much later.

The H1 records on microSD cards and comes with a 2 GB card. Using a 32 GB
microSD card allows for over 50 hours of recording time at 16-bit, 44.1
kHz quality. With its high-speed USB 2.0 port, the H1 allows you to
transfer audio files quickly to your computer. And what's more, the H1
includes a reference speaker to ensure your recordings are being captured
correctly.

Zoom H1 features:

 a.. Stereo X/Y mic configuration
b.. Same frequency and SPL handling as the Zoom H2
 c.. Records Broadcast WAV (BWF) at 16-bit or 24-bit, 96 kHz / 48 kHz /
44.1 kHz

d.. Records MP3 from 48 to 320 kbps for maximum recording time
 e.. High-speed USB 2.0 port
 f.. Built-in reference speaker
g.. Includes 2 GB microSD card and 1 AA battery
h.. 1 AA size battery allows 10 hours operation
i.. Accommodates up to 32 GB microSDHC memory cards
 j.. Track marker function
 k.. Low-cut filter
 l.. Built-in tripod mount
 m.. 1/8-inch external mic input
 n.. Stereo 1/8-inch line output
 o.. Auto record level
p.. Optional accessory package (APH-1) includes windscreen, AC adapter
(USB type), USB cable, adjustable tripod stand, padded-shell case, and mic
clip adapter

Use the H1 to get clean, clear stereo sound for every recording purpose,
from musical performances, songwriting sessions and rehearsals to
seminars, conferences, journalism, or capturing audio for video.

An H1 accessory package (APH-1) is also available separately and includes
a windscreen, AC adapter (USB type), USB cable, adjustable tripod stand,
padded-shell case, and a mic clip adapter.

Well, sir, I have every reason to believe you, but I respectfully reserve
the right to remain confused. Let me share the steps I've taken to get to
what I believe is the correct place to make those changes:

1. I opened Sound Forge 10 and pressed Alt+O and heard JAWS say
"options."

2. I eased a finger onto the Up-Arrow key briefly and heard JAWS say
"Preferences dot dot dot"

3. I opened Preferences with Enter, did a Shift+Tab to get into the
Control

Tabs, then repeatedly did a Right Arrow until I heard Audio. While poking
and prodding inside that dialogue box, I never did find anything that
referenced either of my sound cards.

Am I perhaps looking in the wrong place?

Regards,

Nolan

Hi, All,

It's my first time back on the list in a long time, and it's good to be
back. Here's a quick question:

I'm running Windows 7/64 in a Dell Latitude D830 laptop with a Sigmatel
on-board sound card. Last weekend, I purchased a SIIG USB sound card
which

seems to work nicely. I want to be able to record in Sound Forge 10 using
the new SIIG USB card rather than the on-board audio. I'm assuming I have
to make those changes in the Windows 7 area, not in the preferences of
Sound

Forge. Is that true?

Regards,

Nolan

Hi everyone,

I am a new member on the list and thank the moderator for letting me join.

I am wondering if there are any good programs out there to even out the
volume when you have volume discrepancies. Preferably free ones, but
would be interested in learning what I can.

Hi all,

What method do you folks recommend for creating a playlist? The
environment is Windows XP. The user has both Windows Media and Winamp,
both of which have capabilities similar to or exactly like what is sought.
However, I'm wondering if one of these is your preferred program to create
a playlist? If so, how do you get started? If not, which program would you
recommend for creating a playlist file. And is there any advantage or
disadvantage to m3u versus pls? The user has multiple screen readers
installed, including JAWS and Window-Eyes.

Thanks all,
Scott

Hi listers.

As I write this I'm listening to the Dodgers and Phillies playoff series
that happened in October of last year. I had no problem accessing the
calendar on the web site, and I found the game I wanted to hear. The
audio
isn't the best, but it's accessible. A word of warning. I did have
trouble

accessing the page from the mlb home page. I called them up, and was able
to get there. To make things easier for you, here's the link to use to
get

there.

http://mlb.com/mediacenter

The first table will list today's games. Above this table is the link to
open the calendar, which is totally accessible with Jaws 10.

That's about it from here. Hopefully mlb.com won't do what they did a
couple of years ago and change things on opening day.

ofFame!

List members, you may recall last week I presented a detailed explanation
of
a problem I was having with Sound Forge 9 and two stereo channels
appearing

in the same channel. In other words, I could hear both channels in each
separate channel as though they had been mixed into a mono channel; hope
that recap makes sense.

I told you at the time that I had reseated the patch cord into the PC
without satisfactory results. Many of you wrote back to encourage me to
reinstall the audio drivers perhaps or possibly double check to ensure
that

Sound Forge was indeed recording in stereo in the first place.

Well, here's why I'm likely a good nominee for the Computer Audio Stupid
Tricks hall of fame: I decided after being frustrated with this problem
all

week and trying a bunch of solutions--using a different tape player, etc.,
that I would just start again with the absolute basics. I knew beyond any
doubt more sure of it than I was of being able to breathe, that I had
inserted that cable properly and fully into my PC's audio input jack. But
just for grins, I decided to give that plug one more little nudge. It
already felt tight and in all the way.

Well, you can all guess the rest, and by now I hope you're smiling just a
bit. Trust me, you should smile guilt free about this; I've been laughing
at myself since yesterday. When I gave that cord that little nudge, I
heard

it click just once more and felt it settle into the jack ever-so-slightly
further. Of course, my problem instantly went away and I was again
hearing

my separate tracks in their separate channels as they should be.

Well, that's what being arrogant and cocky will do for you. I was so
absolutely certain I had that cord in there as far as it would go, but
that
extra eighth of an inch or so made all the difference. I figured I'd
share

my little story, since none of you have ever done anything like that and
never will. I want you to at least vicariously enjoy a good laugh or
smile
at my expense or along with me or whatever you prefer. I guess the moral
of

this little story is, no matter how sure you are about your connections,
check'em one last time before you write this list.

Thanks to all of you who wrote back and expressed your concern; I hope
you'll forgive me for wasting your time reading and responding to that
earlier message.

Nolan, who can easily be recognized in a PC-Audio list group photo because
he's the one wearing the embarrassed smile.

Re: Creating a playlist in winamp?

2008-02-22 Thread chris ramsay
kathy its easy just go into winamp hit control tab til
jaws says windows playlist editor. to add a file to your playlist hit the l
key which will put you in an add files dialog box. tab to the place where it
specifies the files on your machine in a kind of tree view. you can then
navigate to the file you want and when its highlighted hit enter. repeat
the process and you can add files one by one to your playlist. you can add
an entire folder by hitting shift l at the beginning instead of l. hope
this helps.

computer containing files. chris

It sounds great through winamp on my computer as well. The highs are great,
very high quality or cd quality, I guess on my computer.

Re: Playing songs and music using Winamp

2005-12-02 Thread chris ramsay
hi terry what you need to do is go into the windows play
list editor by hitting control tab from the main window or alt e to open up
the play list editor then hit the l key to open up your files. then tab over
until you see the list of drives on your computer navigate to where the
songs are and add them one by one. You can also open up an entire folder of
songs by hitting shift l and highlighting the folder where the songs are.
then they will be in a play list.
you can go to the top of the list and hit enter and the first song in the
list will play followed by the second third etc provided you have the
preferences set to let the play list continue.

Subject: Problem hearing audio with skype

I'm using the latest version of skype with Window-eyes version 4.5, a
soundblaster live sound card, and Windows 98. When I try to make a call, I
can't hear any of the ringing sounds or the audio of the person I'm
calling,

although they can hear me fine. My sound card and microphone work in all
other applications, including goldwave, for the people, and audio-tips
with

no problem. When I go in to the skype options and look under the sound
devices tab, for the input and output options all I see in the combo boxes
is the setting for windows default. My sound card does not show up. Does
anyone have any suggestions of how I can fix this problem, or do I have to
wait until I upgrade to another operating systm like xp or 2000?

Re: NFL field pass and RP8.

2004-08-29 Thread chris ramsay
my reading of the field pass web site seemed to say that we would be
able to receive all games but not necessarily all broadcasts or all networks
broadcasting each game. so I believe you are correct and this iis similar
to the xperiences I have had with field pass.
