RE: Tagging Multiple Files with Winamp

2012-03-28 Thread Hotscot72
Hi again Brett, sorry for the delay in answering, but have been very busy.
I have many folders with at least 50 tracks in each, but some folders have
more than 50 tracks.

How do I create play lists in Winamp to play these folders please?.
Finally, after the play lists have been created, how to play them. Step by
step Instructions would be appreciated Indeed,

Many thanks BB,

Billy

Hi. Not really sure what your looking for. If you have a file or two in
separate folders, and if the parent folder is the same just load the main
folder and check the box that talks about recursing folders.
Another words. If you have a file in separate folders but all of those
folders are under a music folder, for example, than just use shift plus l
and enter on the main folder. Winamp will play all files under that main
folder, wheteher they're separated by folders or not.
Or you could make a playlist and save it so u only have to make it once.
let me know if i can help

Hi Brett, this sounds like a good Idea. I have lots of music tracks in
single folders, and would love to be able to just get a program to play the
whole folder with one command, by the sound of it this method you suggest
would do the trick.

Hi. I am so sorry folks. I guess I didn't proof the message before I sent
it. No it was not done with siri or written in another language. Just my
keyboard!
Ok here we go again
The way I tag multiple files is by using the playlist window in winamp. I
create a playlist of all the files I want to tag then i use control plus a
to select all. At this point I use my right mouse button to open the context
menu, go to the "send to" submenu and in there is an autotagger item. Hit
enter on that and away you go.
Now, I have had a few times where the wrong menu would pop up so I would
have to route my mouse cursor before the right click.
After autotag is complete you can look through the list of all items. if
winamp isn't sure if a tag is correct the item will not be checked so it's a
good idea to take a glance at the list of files. If there is a file that is
unchecked use the tab key to listen to the old data versus the new data and
see if you like it anyway. Sometimes I've had such a big list I just clicked
the check all button and hoped for the best.
Remember to hit the apply button after you've looked through the list.
If you need more help don't hesitate I've done this many times and I am
amazed at how well winamp finds tags, even with little information.
good luck hth

cleaning up audio files.

2011-12-13 Thread Hotscot72
Hi guys, I have some audio book files, that have been converted from ebook
txt files to mp3.

The files in question are not the greatest quality sound wise.

They sound alittle sluggish, and you still get the odd punctuation mark
spoken.

Wondering if the files can be cleaned up in some kinda way, and if GoldWave
could be used for this task?,

I am not a jfw user so I don't know about the scripts. As to the audio
meter, I haven't had a chance to do some work with it yet, school and
personal obligations. However, there is a nice little blurb about it in the
help file. Some of the combo boxes were hard to read the headers from, but
maybe they don't have to have headers and are context sensative. So the
short answer is, no I haven't had time to play with it. Seems pretty usable
though from the brief overview I gave it the other day. If you're a
window-eyes user, it's important to reclass the custom controls in the meter
window of the control properties so that they are buttons, saves you a
keystroke or two.

Hi Colin and all.
According to the release notes, this is the last version to work under
Windows XP. GoldWave 5.70 or whatever they next call it will only work under
Windows Vista and Windows 7. I do not use Windows XP myself, so I am going
from the release notes somebody has posted a few days ago. I'm sure GoldWave

To be honest I have not listened to them. I talked to a few people on this
list a couple of years ago and per there suggestions I went off and bought a
usb tv tuner, hooked it up to my incomming cable, and had a sighted friend
help me with setup. It worked so unbelievably well.
Now that I am living in California we have at&t u-verse so I cannot use my
media center and I'm forced to memorize menus and such with the stupid cable
box. I feel I should only have to pay a small percentage of this damn bill
because I can't access more than half of the features.
Anyway sorry for the rant.
I guess the answer is no, but I really hate one word or one line answers.

RE: over the air tv on a win 7 machine?

2011-12-09 Thread Hotscot72
Hello Brett, this is Interesting stuff.
I have been looking for some kinda software to watch television here in the
UK, but it seems a dedicated TV tuner card is the best way to go.
I'm sure there are software packages to allow you to watch live television
on computer systems, but I do not know of any such programs myself.

Just for the record, I have Sky satellite TV,

Hi I have used media center with windows 7. Once set up it is perfect! I
mean perfect!
First of all, you get to have a guide like the sighted folks. Your channels
go down the left side of the table. When you want to see what's on that
channel simply hit right arrow and each show is listed. You can get more
info about a show, or if it's on right now just enter to go to that channel.

And you can see the whole line up for a few days by using your right arrow.
I was amazed the first time. To think how cool it would be to have it like
that on a real tv.
The program is very usable by both jfw and window-eyes. The record settings,
the recorded shows, even the online tv stuff!
I think that 245 dollar program is really not worth the money. IMhO bb Brett

Hi Brett, I will indeed be using different backing tracks, some will be as
you mention, Midi type files, but most will be cdg mp3 type karaoke files. I
will also be using zip format files, with the cdg mp3 files contained.
My main problem is still getting a piece of software to play the above. A
program or add on would be fantastic. Have you such a program to play zipped
files containg cdg mp3 files?,

Hi. I ran across your message again and wanted to see how things were
progressing. You said u would be using k A r files? SO these are basically
midi files with lyrics that show up on the screen? I ask because these are
different than mp3 files zipped with cdg files. Most karaoke people use zip
files which contain an mp3 and a graphic cdg file. Obviously the mp3 has
full band and usually backing vocals whereas the midi file has a synthisized
tone generated file that uses your sound card to play. K a r filess take up
a fraction of disc space but sound quality is usually not-so-great.
I have more experience with the zipped cdg stuff but I'm sure I can help you
either way I just need to know what your setup is.

RE: Win Amp won't play more than one file, of an album, at a time!

2011-02-12 Thread hotscot72
Hey guys, I have a similar Issue with Winamp, so much so I have now decided
to uninstall the program.

When trying to play an entire album, the play button in the context menu
would not press at all. This did not happen everytime I played an album, but
it was annoying at times.
Not really sure if this is an Issue with Winamp or jaws 11. I'm also using
windows7,

Wonamp should play moe than 1 file if you slected with control a in the
folder of the album that's not good. maybe something didn't install right.

Hi!
Ok, now I see how you mean, well, then the new zoom h1 is a good thing,
cause it doesn't have menus, and it's very simple to use.
if you go to blindcooltech.com, you'll hear a good podcast on this recorder.

Ok, well, is it more like a multi track recorder you're looking for? then I
may recommend zoom h4n, it's the most blind friendly recorder from zoom

Hello John,
Then the suggestion I made to you, is correct.
An FM radio transmitter that is hooked up to the line out jack of your sound

card, will serve you best.
Even with running long cables, you are looking at a grater resistance.
Which means, you will loose some of the audio signal before it gets from
point a to point b.
The shorter the cable, the lesser the resistance.
Hope this helps.
My best regards.
  John.

Hello, I just looked on BlindCoolTech, and Neal said with his review

that the accessibility is awful, but that the monitor mode for recording
makes it a little better. That's from the text descriptions under the
podcast title, and so you'd need to listen to his recordings to hear more
about it.

Using Bing and looking at the web pages
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital_card and
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MicroSD, I find that the size of the SD card is
24 × 32 × 2.1 mm and the size of the micro SD card is 15 mm × 11 mm × 1 mm.
I'd say the SD card is about the size of a larger US postage stamp, although
a bit thicker. the Micro SD card is about the size of a small finger nail.
