Windows Media Player and M4A files under Windows xp

2011-04-03 Thread Dane Trethowan
Hi!

I have no trouble playing M4A files with Windows Media Player under Windows 7
but can't do the same with Windows Media Player under Windows Xp, does anyone
know of a plug-in or anything I can get to change this?

Not asking for myself really as I don't much care for audio under Windows Media
Player, asking for a friend and as I said, Windows Media Player with Windows 7
works just fine!

Hi Dane,
did you try to install the k-lite Mega kodec Pack?
I think it could solve your problem, but I am using a macintosh, and I don't
remeber which kodecs are included into this pakage...So I am not sure about
this tip!

2011-04-03 Thread Alexander Man
Hi,

If you do not want to install additional players, download the K Lite
Mega codec pack:
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/k_lite_mega_codec_pack.htm

If you don't mind, download VLC, a player which plays nearly
everything.:

I hope I helped, drop me a reply if successful.

Good luck.

Alex.

Another - not free - converter for handling MP4a is NCH switch converter.
There is a limited evaluation version but not sure what this does, or maybe
more importantly, what it doesn't do.

I posted the following yesterday:

Switch can do this. It comes as trialware, but after the trial period,
you can still use it for free with some limitations. I would guess that
converting M4A files would still work. Note that it won't break DRM.
You can find out more on Switch from the FAQ, including a link to
download the trial, at

http://www.nch.com.au/switch/faq.html#ABA.

Switch can do this. It comes as trialware, but after the trial period,
you can still use it for free with some limitations. I would guess that
converting M4A files would still work. Note that it won't break DRM. You
can find out more on Switch from the FAQ, including a link to download
the trial, at http://www.nch.com.au/switch/faq.html#ABA.

.m4A files in Winamp

2006-07-31 Thread HF
I have a bunch of .m4a files that I would like to play in Winamp. I've been
able to play some of them but not all and don't understand why.
How can I make sure that Winamp will play all of them? Do I need a special
plugin? And if so, which one?
I can play all these files just fine in Quicktime but would rather play them
in Winamp.

Hi,
I subscribed to a new podcast today, but the files it downloads havve
the extension .m4a. I'm using version 2.90 of WinAmp, which doesn't play
this type of file by default, but I thought I heard that later versions can
play it. However, I'm reluctant to upgrade to a later version, because 2.90
is working fine for me. I tried converting the M4A file to an MP3 with the
trial version of Easy CDDA Extractor, but it gave me an error about
decoding the file or something. Does anyone know if there's a plugin for
WinAmp 2.90 that can play this type of file, or should I upgrade to a later
version?
 Thanks.

 Subject: M4A Files

 Hi,
I subscribed to a new podcast today, but the files it downloads
 havve
the extension .m4a. I'm using version 2.90 of WinAmp, which doesn't
 play
this type of file by default, but I thought I heard that later versions
 can
play it. However, I'm reluctant to upgrade to a later version, because
 2.90
is working fine for me. I tried converting the M4A file to an MP3 with
 the
trial version of Easy CDDA Extractor, but it gave me an error about
decoding the file or something. Does anyone know if there's a plugin
 for
WinAmp 2.90 that can play this type of file, or should I upgrade to a
 later
 version?
Thanks.

 Yours Sincerely,
 Kelly John Sapergia

Hi!
I would personally upgrade. I believe that version 5.13 is the version that
a lot of people are using now, but I am using the latest version, 5.22, with
no problems. The built-in scripts make it even more functional. You could
also try using goldwave or soundforge to convert the files. Demos for both
programs are available. Please let me know if I can be of any more
assistance.

Hi Nick,
Thanks for the suggestion. While I don't mind upgrading to a newer

something to do with the Extended Jump to File plugin, but I'm not taking
any chances.

RE: m4a files

2005-11-10 Thread russell Bourgoin
Hi all,

 I didn't mean to imply that e z c d
extractor couldn't write cd's. It can and I've
used it with no problems. It just cannot do data
or mp3 cd's. It can only create audio cd's.

Rusty
At 07:31 AM 11/10/2005, Jonathan Mosen spake thusly:-
Um actually, it does have CD writing capability as well...however I use
Winamp Pro for this so can't help with the how.

Back when I purchased the program, it was stated that updates would be

charged for an update. Since then there has been no claim to free

Julie,

This strikes me as all the more reason to switch from Nero to Easy CD-DA
Extractor. I've never used Nero. But, from all that I've read, it sounds as
if Easy's user interface is far more convenient and JAWS-friendly, and more

When it comes to versatility in a conversion tool plus accessibility in CD
ripping, Easy CD-DA Extractor is one of the best bangs for your buck
 you'll find.

It's not a one-time fee. He reserves the right to charge for updates. Back
when I purchased the program, it was stated that updates would be free,
then about six months later he said he couldn't do that and charged for an
update. Since then there has been no claim to free updates.

VERY ACCESSIBLE! Oh, there is a bit of difficulty if you don't want to burn
an entire folder of tracks, or if you want to burn them to CD in a different
order than they appear in the folder. But there are very simple work-arounds
for those issues. (contact me off-list if you want the details.)

Bruce,

Right click the folder you want to burn; choose the appropriate option from
the context menu; wait a second or two; press F8. What could be simpler or
more accessible!? What is it you prefer about CDRWIN?

 Julie,

This strikes me as all the more reason to switch from Nero to Easy CD-DA
Extractor. I've never used Nero. But, from all that I've read, it sounds
 as
if Easy's user interface is far more convenient and JAWS-friendly, and
 more
than adequate for most people's needs. And, you get ripping, burning, and
format converting, all together, in one easy-to-use interface, for only a
single, one-time, relatively modest registration fee.

CDRWIN is what I'm used to, I get a little more control over my CD layout.
I've been using it for six years and see no reason not to. I'm not putting

But both 6.x and 7 are nice too.

It's just a matter of learning a new tool as the UI has been changed some

more stable than easy cd and finding where your levels of files are is
easier. In easy cd it is under numbers and it's harder to navigate for
 me.
Does the easy cd extracter cost a great deal and could it be used
independently of easy cd creater if I wanted to use Nero?

2005-10-24 Thread Bruce Toews
I mean whether you want data burned to the CD, for example, and just in
what order you want what put onto the CD. I'm not arguing with you, it
sounds as though you're arguing with me. I simply prefer CDRWIN, that's
all.

CDRWIN is what I'm used to, I get a little more control over my CD layout.
I've been using it for six years and see no reason not to. I'm not putting
down Easy CD-DA Extractor in the least.

 Hi,
Nero 5.5 was a Nice tool.
But both 6.x and 7 are nice too.

It's just a matter of learning a new tool as the UI has been changed some
 times now.

 Best regards
 Brian
