Re: Bose and B

2015-10-05 Thread Anders Holmberg
Hi!
Well, i actually will give it a try.
I will take my bose headphones to the audio store and compare them to the B
p7.
By the way have you had a chance to listen to the p3 model thats less expensive.
I wonder if they’re a good choice for that pricing?
And finally sorry for my missunderstanding and rudeness.

 They’re both bluetooth and wired.
You can just remove the bluetooth receiver and connect a cable instead.

I’m sorry but we’re travelling down two different roads here, go look for a
Bose pair of headphones in an Audiophile magazine and see how far you get.

I’m not saying Bose are bad, they’re certainly not the worst but they’re by no

Hi!
I whish i could mate.
THe problem is that i am not working which means i don’t have much money to
spend.
But ofcourse i could order the p7 anyway.
I have to wait for a while first before i get them.
By the curious way.
Have they made any headphones above the p7?
Like p9 or something?
One thing that makes me think about the p7 is the short cable which i really
like.
Most headphones cables are to long imho.
And i really do not know how to handle long cables?

Again you’ve got it all wrong, I don’t dislike Bose headphones and I don’t have
a dislike or bias towards any brand or company, I’m telling it like it is and
that is that Bose headphones are not Audiophile headphones and they are
certainly not featured as audiophile products and I seriously doubt that you
have plenty of audiophile magazines, a few perhaps but not plenty, I think what
you mean is that there are plenty of reviews of Bose headphones which
compliment them and again that’s perfectly understandable coming from a
consumer point of view where a crowd pleasing sound would suit most people but
take a listen to your Bose and then take a listen to something like AKG, B

Headphones as far as I can tell fall into 3 main groups, the general
standard type, the crowd pleasers and the audiophile type headphones.

The general headphones are the run of the mill stuff that you buy from say
 $10 upwards to $50

There are some bargains to be had here but as a general rule if you want

Firstly, y’re not the only one on a fixed income, I’m in the same boat and i
saved to get the the P7’S for quite a time but that’s for another day and
another time but be rest assured I appreciate where you’re coming from.

The B P7’S are the top B cans and when you see a pair you’ll not only
understand that they are a top model but You’ll also appreciate that they’re
standard is far better than most headphones, certainly about the best you’ll
get for $300 without question, the build quality, the sound experience, the
luxury of these cans etc so - in short - if you can put some money towards
these then it will be a very worthwhile investment if you love your audio.

You’re taking it too personally Angus, no one said you didn’t like your music
and I’m sure you do but - it would appear from your eMail contributions to this
discussion - that you haven’t yet heard just how wonderful your music will
sound and I understand that.

I’ve been down the Bose road with headphones so again, go and listen to a pair
of B P7’s or the AKG model Mary mentioned, take along a couple of favourite
audio CD’S or some FLAC files and hear the difference for yourself.

Re: Bose and B

2015-10-04 Thread Dane Trethowan
Similar story here, I never believe that any company is best at anything let
alone Bose. My first Bose product was a Bose Wave Radio and - when I got it -
I found the sound amazing though radio performance was very poor, I believe
this has changed in the latest generation of Wave Radio.

Anyhow it didn’t take me long - as I read more and more audiophile reviews on
different products - to question just how good Bose sounded, surely if it was
any good then Audiophiles would be raving about the stuff but the silence was
deafening.

As list members will know, one of my interests is Audio Streaming and it has
been stated by many people at various times that one of the best streaming
clients for AirPlay is the B range which includes the A5, A7, Z2 and so on,
if such products were so highly regarded then it seemed sensible to me to plan
and get one which I did, I bought the A5 19 months ago and compared to the Bose
Wave Radio? Well quite frankly the B A5 just makes the Bose sound as though
its at the bottom of a hole literally, the Wave System sounds absolutely dull
and boring and I think I’m very much able to appreciate the following
quotation, “No Highs just Lows, that sounds like Bose” , a little
exaggerated perhaps because the highs are there but they’re swamped by the
loose base.

Again you’ve got it all wrong, I don’t dislike Bose headphones and I don’t have
a dislike or bias towards any brand or company, I’m telling it like it is and
that is that Bose headphones are not Audiophile headphones and they are
certainly not featured as audiophile products and I seriously doubt that you
have plenty of audiophile magazines, a few perhaps but not plenty, I think what
you mean is that there are plenty of reviews of Bose headphones which
compliment them and again that’s perfectly understandable coming from a
consumer point of view where a crowd pleasing sound would suit most people but
take a listen to your Bose and then take a listen to something like AKG, B
etc and you’ll hear the striking difference for yourself.

2015-10-04 Thread Hamit Campos
Well it took for me to hear stuff to believe. Not just read. Also making note
of how behind Bose is. Let's leave them alone as far as Dolby Atmos goes for
now as they don't have a 7.1 system yet even. Yeah youu can kind of build your
own, but the speakers that they recommend for the back ain't jewell cubes. So
they won't match. Not sure if they do match more with the direct 1s, but I'd
have to hear it for my self to be sure. I'll give you this, the OE2I headphones
I have will give you Cinimatic bace, but like I said for the real sharp crisp
attack on your ear drums from the smack of the whip in the Malazia vid of a guy
being wwhipped for drinking beer, well, the Apple Ear Pods even do better at
that. As will the Soundlink Mini from bose. Funny enough this also sounds
better on my companion 5 system. So I thought it's to protect your ears. I now
realize it is indeed a quality thing because even with out the cousions that
whip doesn't really attack your drums. Also and I know I always bring her up,
but the 98 Zilla also doesn't sound any better threw the drivers them selves.
Again my Apple ear pods beat the pants off of Bose. So will my JBL speakers in
my Samsung TV. I was surprised to see this. I was all like seriously? Is this
really happening? The TV has even beat the pants off of the Companion 5 system
for Zilla's wistle sound? Are you kidding me right now? The only thing from
bose that I've listened to where she sounds pretty good is the soundlink System
3. Pluss you get the cinematic bass for the foot steps. Which I will grant the
SL Mini do that. As do the headset.s. Oh well. Oh yeah the lifestyle systems
can't handle DTS HD Master Audio directly. Tthose are Bose's short commings for
me. But they are pretty good other than that. It just shocks me that the Apple
ear pods do better at crispness. I'm not into Drey's beats. Tried the ear buds
and meh not too cool. I did try the pill too, Zilla's tornado blast is okay but
as there's hardly any bass, well not cool when she walks. Oh well.

Bose and B

2015-10-03 Thread Dane Trethowan
Hi there!

Firstly can you please use some sort of subject line so so others may easily
follow the conversation.

I assume you’re talking about comparing the B headphones with the Bose? I had
a feeling someone would ask this question and yes, I’ve done some comparisons
and offer my comments below, I’d be interested in other views on this too.

Headphones as far as I can tell fall into 3 main groups, the general standard
type, the crowd pleasers and the audiophile type headphones.

The general headphones are the run of the mill stuff that you buy from say $10
upwards to $50

There are some bargains to be had here but as a general rule if you want to
hear a top sound for music listening then these headphones aren’t as good as
others up the price change, good enough for most people perhaps.

I’ve certainly heard some nice sounds in this price range from the likes of
TDK, JBL etc.

Then you have the crowd pleasers from the likes of Bose, they have a bass rich
sound but often this swamps the mid-range and to an extent the top frequency’s
in a musical track but a lot of people like this sort of sound, Beats are
famous for doing much the same.

Then we come to the top of the line audiophile stuff from Sehneiser, Grado
Labs, the top Sony stuff, B, AKG etc, these cans are deliberately designed to
enrich the musical experience when listening to them.

When you listen to your favourite music you should enjoy its clarity to the
full, these headphones are designed so you can hear the attack of the piano,
the effects of the guitar, the silkiness of the strings, the whispered words in
some tracks and so on.

As I say, the notes I’ve written above are just general thoughts I have and
there are exceptions which I’ve noted here too, some of the cheaper headphones
really give you bang for your buck but you do have to look around, do your
research etc.

If you’re on a budget and you want a good set of cans that come very close to
audiophile spec then you will be astounded at the sound given by the Grado Labs
SR60I, think they’re around $75 US dollars.

Build quality isn’t superb and no, they’re going to sound rather quiet on an
iPhone, Note4 etc on their own through the standard headphone jack but they do
have the sound that’s pretty much unbeaten given what they’re worth.

They’re both bluetooth and wired.
You can just remove the bluetooth receiver and connect a cable instead.

This I agree with absolutely, I have one of the higher end ones (p7) --
saved a bit of money buying openbox -- and I like that the base is not
overwhelming like the Bose, you really hear what was intended, depending
on the recording.

Regarding the B P7, the other remarkable thing about those cans is that
you’re getting an Audiophile product that - not all that long ago - you would
have had to pay at least twice the price for, if not more, my pair of
Senheisers I bought back in 2005 sounds nearly as good but not quite, isn’t as
well built etc.

The Cable and one of the elements needs replacing but I don’t think I’ll even
bother sending the unit off for repair, just not worth my while.

Re: Bose and B

2015-10-03 Thread Dane Trethowan
I’m sorry but we’re travelling down two different roads here, go look for a
Bose pair of headphones in an Audiophile magazine and see how far you get.

I’m not saying Bose are bad, they’re certainly not the worst but they’re by no
means the best, get your Bose and then go and hear a pair of headphones
featured in an Audiophile magazine, won’t take you long to spot the difference.
