Using Jaws 16 and Windows 7, does anyone know of an accessible program to
convert AAX to MP3 so we can play Audible books in MP3 format?

Thanks for any assistance.

Re: Converting an MP3 to m3u or creating a playlist from an MP3 file, are either of these possible?

2009-02-20 Thread Steve Matzura
MP3's contain one thing and one thing only--music in digital format.

OK, I lied. They also contain something called metadata which is a
list of predefined characteristics of the file being played--track
name, track artist, album name, cover artist name, year published,
performance genre, etc., etc., etc. Unfortunately, the spec only
allows for one copy of this metadata, so the answer of whether or not
you can split an MP3 into multiple tracks and display new metadata for
each track is, unfortunatley, no. Ditto the answer of if an MP3 can
be turned into a playlist. A playlist is simply a list of files to be
played, one per line, in a standard ASCII text file with some special
formatting for certain programs like Winamp and Station Playlist
Studio to read for presentation at the time of performance playback.

Yes, you can convert MP3 to WAV. However, if you're burning a CD with

Ah ok. It is totally free. Why are you questioning me for my opinions here?
Try to have two PC with CDEX installed on the first PC, and that winamp PRO
in the other machine. Try to convert 30 files using both; same time, same
files and try to observe the difference. I'm asking for that because I never
tried that because I have only one PC here. By the way, the specs of the two
computers should be the same in all aspects hundred percent.

Wow, converting to mp3 is done by so many programs e.g. cdex, nero,
accoustica, easy_mp3, among others, even winamp will do it, and I
usually burn at about 32X since anything more than than that causes
errors on my system. The effective burn speed is about 15X though
since mp3s have to be listened too before they can be burned, and
unlike just straight data, take more time. Using a program like
winamp to make *.wav files of midi files is a way to burn them to cd
easily, since the midi file is your sound card's instruments, as it
were, being controlled by someone else's ideas about how a song
should be played, so that's easy enough.

   Yes it will!
If I want to change a file to something specific, here is what I do.
I open the file in GoldWave, and then just choose the save as dialogue,
   and
then save the file with the attributes that I want.
Example I may open a .wav file, and then save it as an mp3, at 44.100,
   128kbps stereo.
Now I have 2 files with the same name, but with different attributes.

You just play the midi in winamp through the output plug-in called
disk writer, and it writes the *.wav file for you.

 Hi Brad,
 Yes it will!

OK. I did look at Gold Wave on line, and the featured details only show
 a
24 bit sound bit. Being you have it, can you tell me will it do a 128
 kbs
bit file at 44,100 Hz? Gold Wave seems to have come a long way in the
years, I remember it as a shareware program with simple usage, it seems
much more complex and giving Sound Forge a run for the money from what
 it
 says it can do anyway.

Looking at Gold Wave's details I see it converts to a 24 bit file.
Previously I posted inquiring about a recording software to record
 at
 128
bit. Perhaps there is an MP3 converter that will do that as opposed to
 a
recording software? Below is the requirements for my MP3s, perhaps I'm
amiss but I'm assuming they are talking about a 128 bit file. Sound
 forge
only maxes at 32 bit and Gold Wav 24 bit. 128 seems high to me but it
 is
what they require. How could I achieve this? Here's the
 requirements...

Your song must have the following settings:
 Constant Bit rate
 Bit Rate: 128Kbps
 Channels: Stereo
 Frequency: 44100Hz

 Thanks for any help.

Looking at Gold Wave's details I see it converts to a 24 bit file.
Previously I posted inquiring about a recording software to record at 128
bit. Perhaps there is an MP3 converter that will do that as opposed to a
recording software? Below is the requirements for my MP3s, perhaps I'm
amiss but I'm assuming they are talking about a 128 bit file. Sound forge
only maxes at 32 bit and Gold Wav 24 bit. 128 seems high to me but it is
what they require. How could I achieve this? Here's the requirements...

Your song must have the following settings:
Constant Bit rate
Bit Rate: 128Kbps
Channels: Stereo
Frequency: 44100Hz

Thanks for any help.

2005-12-23 Thread Dana S. Leslie
If you already own a copy of goldwave, there's no reason not to use it for
this project, especially as it has the recursive functionality I think you
were asking about earlier. But, If you don't already have Goldwave, I'd
recommend using the file converter that is part of Easy CD-DA Extractor;
depending on currency fluctuations, it's registration fee is significantly
less than Goldwave's.

OK. I did look at Gold Wave on line, and the featured details only show a
24 bit sound bit. Being you have it, can you tell me will it do a 128 kbs

years, I remember it as a shareware program with simple usage, it seems
much more complex and giving Sound Forge a run for the money from what it
says it can do anyway.

Hi Tyler,
I don't know, I don't have any .mid files to test it on.
If I had one I'd check it and let you know.

OK. I did look at Gold Wave on line, and the featured details only show a
24 bit sound bit. Being you have it, can you tell me will it do a 128 kbs
bit file at 44,100 Hz? Gold Wave seems to have come a long way in the
years, I remember it as a shareware program with simple usage, it seems
much more complex and giving Sound Forge a run for the money from what it
 says it can do anyway.

recording software? Below is the requirements for my MP3s, perhaps I'm

Hey thanks. That helps. I downloaded the GoldWav trial version and messed

 Subject: Re: Converting to MP3?

Looking at Gold Wave's details I see it converts to a 24 bit file.
Previously I posted inquiring about a recording software to record at
 128
Here's the requirements...

Your song must have the following settings:
 Constant Bit rate
 Bit Rate: 128Kbps
 Channels: Stereo
 Frequency: 44100Hz

 Thanks for any help.

A .mid file is a sequencing file that plays sounds. It does not have the
actual sounds in it, which is why it's not a sound file as such.

No. A midi file isn't a sound file.

Re: Converting to MP3?

2005-12-23 Thread Curtis Delzer

Sorry to jump in here, but can you do the same with .mid files (open a .mid
file, and save it as, say, .mp3?)

thanks

  Hi Brad,
  Yes it will!

OK I'll check that out thanks. Now for another question then. If Gold Wav
will do that but my Sound Forge 5.0 won't, and perhpas not the latest
version of Sound Forge either, in your opinion how does Gold Wav stack up
to Sound Forges editing and effects?
