Hello. I got a mackie vlz4 a few weeks ago. Its a 4 channel, and very impressed
with it. It have a very clean sound and the mike pre amps are great. I use mine
for podccasting and such. It was very important for me to get something that
can handle both dynamic and condenser mikes equally well. That is one of the
things I have against behringer that their components are not so good.

hey randy!
there are lots of mixing consoles out there, and mostly they look the same,
but well a normal mixing console, can have up to 32 faders, but that's a 32
channel mixer, smile. and the mixingconsole itself has some knobs for
panning, and Equalizers and so on. but it al depends on what you like to
have, and the mixing consoles can also have different prises, depending on
which kind of mixer you would like to have. I recommend that you might go to

console as we say as well, smile.
but for you as a station playlist user, if you have a low budjet, you can
use the station playlist it self. I do that, I don't need a mixing console
for that, well, I can use one, but then I have to fiddle around with other

I use a little freebee called Stream Ripper for Winamp. After you install
it, it always comes up when you start Winamp but it isn't running--just
ready for you. You first get the stream started and then use your screen
reader's systray access. You'll find stream ripper for winamp in the
list.

Just do a single right click on it. You'll get a pop up list and it is
very easy to use. It just has start ripping, stop ripping and exit. It
also has a settings or maybe its called options that you can use to select
the destination folder to put the ripped files into (called output
directory) You can also select never overwrite partial which I would
select because if the stream is interrupted it will overwrite what you
already have when it resumes. With this checked, it just keeps making
separate files so you'll have a recording of everything you heard. Hope
this helps.

Subject: Dumb Question

Hi All,

Ok, I know most of you do this all the time, but I have never had the need
to record streaming audio before. What program is best to use, and do you
start recording and then bring up your stream or exactly what do you do
first so as not to miss any part of the audio but not record a bumch of
meaningless stuff you don't want.

I'm sure this is not at all difficult, and I know it seems pretty
elementary

to most of you. I suppose through trial and error I could figure it out,
but I think some one who has done this could save me a lot of time. I
never
seem to have enough time at the computer to do all the things I want
anyway.

Thanks for your help.

Kris

The only dumb question is the one not asked.
Total Recorder is relatively inexpensive and popular.

I use a little freebee called Stream Ripper for Winamp. After you install
it, it always comes up when you start Winamp but it isn't running--just
ready for you. You first get the stream started and then use your screen
reader's systray access. You'll find stream ripper for winamp in the list.
Hope
this helps.

Re: Dumb Question......

2004-06-30 Thread Kevin Lloyd
It really depends on the player itself as to how you would move from folder
to folder or track to track.

For example, I had an MP3 CD player that had buttons for advancing by a
folder at a time or a track at a time and it determined the folder as the
first folder above a bunch of MP3 tracks.

I now have a hard disc MP3 player that allows me to navigate by artist,
album or tracks or playlists that I've created on the player. I should
point out here that these functions are only fully accessible when linked up
to my PC but the beauty of the playlists is that you can create your
listening preferences in a few playlists that are not difficult to get to
when the player isn't hooked up to the PC.

The important point is to be sure that your boom box and car stereo actually
support MP3 discs and then it's a case of checking out the manual if it's
not clear what you need to do to navigate between the folders and tracks.

Thanks for the reply. So...if i have an mp3 file buried three
folders deep on my CD-R, how do I navigate down to it using my boombox
or car stereo controls? For example: If I have a file on my CD-R
 buried in folders like this:

 Music1960sBritish-Beatles-YellowSubmarine.mp3

My boombox or car stereo should still be able to access it? I assumed
my hardware would only show those files it recognizes on the top layer
 only.

Re: Dumb Question......

2004-06-30 Thread Kevin Lloyd
I have the Creative Jukebox 10GB hard disc player.

It's probably not the most accessible player when it's not hooked up to a
desktop or laptop but using a program called Notmad Explorer, it's easy to
transfer files to and from it, stream files from it directly through Winamp
on the desktop, create playlists and a variety of other functions including
producing reports and even running SQL queries against the id3 tags database
that's created when transferring files.

The point is though, which I think sometimes gets a little overlooked when
we're looking for accessibility, is that it actually sounds pretty damn
good. It has a frequency response between 20HZ 20KHZ which is more than
sufficient for MP3 music and with a decent pair of headphones, it's a great
listen.

I tend to create pretty large playlists and then just select between them
when away from home so don't tend to spend too much time flicking between
folders. This can be done though if you've got a decent memory for the
folders you've transferred to the player.

It cost me £200 and is a couple of years old now.

Dumb question......

2004-06-28 Thread Robert Heather Williams
I'm new to burning CDs, so this is probably a dumb question. When a
person is burning MP3 files to a CD to be used in a boombox (MP3
capable) or a car stereo which is CD MP3 capable, can a person set up
seperate folders on the CD, or will that render the files unreadable by
the equipment?

Thanks for the help,

Rob
