Re: Dumb Question......
It really depends on the player itself as to how you would move from folder to folder or track to track. For example, I had an MP3 CD player that had buttons for advancing by a folder at a time or a track at a time and it determined the folder as the first folder above a bunch of MP3 tracks. I now have a hard disc MP3 player that allows me to navigate by artist, album or tracks or playlists that I've created on the player. I should point out here that these functions are only fully accessible when linked up to my PC but the beauty of the playlists is that you can create your listening preferences in a few playlists that are not difficult to get to when the player isn't hooked up to the PC. The important point is to be sure that your boom box and car stereo actually support MP3 discs and then it's a case of checking out the manual if it's not clear what you need to do to navigate between the folders and tracks. So...if i have an mp3 file buried three folders deep on my CD-R, how do I navigate down to it using my boombox or car stereo controls? For example: If I have a file on my CD-R buried in folders like this: Music1960sBritish-Beatles-YellowSubmarine.mp3 My boombox or car stereo should still be able to access it? I assumed my hardware would only show those files it recognizes on the top layer only. Rob __ Do you Yahoo!? New and Improved Yahoo! Re: Dumb Question......
I have the Creative Jukebox 10GB hard disc player. It's probably not the most accessible player when it's not hooked up to a desktop or laptop but using a program called Notmad Explorer, it's easy to transfer files to and from it, stream files from it directly through Winamp on the desktop, create playlists and a variety of other functions including producing reports and even running SQL queries against the id3 tags database that's created when transferring files. The point is though, which I think sometimes gets a little overlooked when we're looking for accessibility, is that it actually sounds pretty damn good. It has a frequency response between 20HZ 20KHZ which is more than sufficient for MP3 music and with a decent pair of headphones, it's a great listen. I tend to create pretty large playlists and then just select between them when away from home so don't tend to spend too much time flicking between folders. This can be done though if you've got a decent memory for the folders you've transferred to the player. It cost me £200 and is a couple of years old now. Dumb question......
I'm new to burning CDs, so this is probably a dumb question. When a person is burning MP3 files to a CD to be used in a boombox (MP3 capable) or a car stereo which is CD MP3 capable, can a person set up seperate folders on the CD, or will that render the files unreadable by the equipment?
