Re: Exact Audio Copy Class
Exactly! this has been mentioned on-list before and if you look through the pc-audio archives you'll also see that I (and a couple of others) have discussed EAC at length, I went so far as to say (then as I do now) that Exact Audio Copy is the best CD ripping solution on the planet because of its accuracy, flaxibility and configurability. I've been using Exact Audio Copy for the past 5 years and I've discussed aspects of my time with EAC and how I (along with others) have evolved a CD library of Cue and Flac files, these pairs can be both produced and used with Exact Audio Copy to produce some astonishing feats and these keep getting more numurus as time goes on so I'll summaries what cue and Flac file pairing allows me to do with EAC at the present. Firstly, I have over 10,000 CD'S formatted in this way. I have up until this point kept them backed up on DVD discs with a simple text file to catalogue all of them but as of tomorrow? Well, all this content gets dumped on to a NAD (Networked Attached Drive), all my computers over the network will have access to them. Next, using EAC or other compatible software, I can use a pair of files and convert the pair to MP3 or whatever tracks. Suppose for example you had a pair of files called SuperTramp - Breakfast In America.cue and .flac as a pair, you could use Exact Audio Copy to have the MP3 tracks of the album produced. further to this, you could make an exact CD copy using the file pair for your CD player. Now of course, what I'm talking about here can't be done overnight, it takes a bit of setting up and a few little extra tools make the job a lot easier but if I and other people can do it and you want your music at your fingertips then I certainly recommend you having a look at this as other list members have done, actually got a note from one a few days ago about what a difference this approach had made to both he having accurate and error-free rips and music at his convenience. That's a fair question. Easy CD DA Extractor comes very close but for one thing, you cannot set the drive offsets so therefore you don't get exact rips. Re: Exact Audio Copy Class
Well yes, it can be made to do some file conversions, you can for example convert from wave to MP3 and this feature is even further enhanced if you know the command line structure of the 32-bit console versions of say Flac or LAME, you can them set these command lines up in EAC and load them on a profile basis, one for Flac, one for different presets of LAME and so forth. I probably haven't explained myself properly here so please (if you need to) ask questions. Re: Exact Audio Copy Class
I have heard nothing but good things to say about exact audio copy. I guess ripping is the only thing it does? it doesn't do file conversions? - Original Message - From: Dane Trethowan [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: PC Audio Discussion List pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Wednesday, March 05, 2008 9:47 PM Subject: Re: Exact Audio Copy Class I must say that I'm very proud to see Exact Audio Copy at last! getting some well overdue recognition and not being laughed at for a change by the few idiots around the traps who ought to know better smile. yes, the software is even better than it was before with the introduction of several improvements including the accurate rip feature which compares other rips (done by EAC) of the same CD over the Internet, from that information EAC can automatically configure your CD drive for optimum performance when ripping rather than you having to specify the ofset speeds manually etc. On 06/03/2008, at 1:25 PM, DJ DOCTOR P wrote: High Steve, Where can I get this software, and how much will it cost me? I have been trying to make my home made CD's look like store bought CD's sense the late 1990's. This software sounds like it will do what I need it to do for me as far as ripping and burning CD's goes. Sorry I'm not a VIP, other words, I'd attend the class. My best regards. Re: Exact Audio Copy Class
I'm not trying to start an argument, just to be educated. What makes the quality of its rips better than, say, Easy CD-DA Extractor? bruce -- Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.--John 1:12, NIV Bruce Toews Skype ID: o.canada E-mail and MSN/Windows Messenger: [EMAIL PROTECTED] LiveJournal: http://brucetola.livejournal.com Web Site (including info on my weekly commentaries): http://www.ogts.net Info on the Best TV Show of All Time: http://www.cornergas.com On Wed, 5 Mar 2008, Nick G wrote: Might I recommend that those who can, join this class. From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tuesday, March 18 Attention VIPConduit Supporting Members Dennis, Startbutton, invites you to join him for a new class beginning on Tuesday, March 18, at 9:00PM Eastern, in Dennis's Classroom. Below you will find a description of the Exact Audio Copy Class. You do not need to register ahead of time. Learning Exact Audio Copy. Time: 9:00PM Eastern Location: Dennis's Classroom Number of classes 2 to 4. Experience level intermediate. Blind friendliness level, 8 points out of a possible 10 points. This class is open to supporting members of VIPConduit. Exact audio copy may be the most accurate CD ripping and burning package that I have ever used in the last ten years. The latest addition of this program has several improvements over the earlier version that I reviewed up on the tutorial section of the VIP conduit web site. You no longer have to manually set up the program to get the best settings for the ripper. This should significantly shorten the learning curve on an extremely cool program. Here is a list of the subjects we will be covering during this class. 1. Installation 2. Setup using the setup wizard. 3. Ripping are first CD. 3,A. Retrieving CD info from the CDDB data base. 3,B. Talking about what keys to use to rip your first CD. 3,C. Selecting and unselecting tracks to be ripped in the list of tracks. 3,d. Saving your tracks to the hard drive. 4. Burning are first CD. 4,A. Loading up the CD lay out editor. 4,B. Selecting the tracks you want to burn to CD. 4,C. Starting the burning process 4,d. Closing the CD lay out editor. 5. Copying a CD. 5,a. Saving a copy of the image and q sheet to be used in burning the CD. 5,b. Once again loading the layout editor. 5,c. Loading the image and q sheet in to the layout editor for burning to CD. 5,D. Burning the q sheet and image to the CD. Special note: This program only works with audio CD's. It will not burn data CDs or DVD disks.
