I guess the problem is that Hims Inc has made a device that they hope will appeal to a mass market, I myself could well do without a FM and Internet radio, I couldn't believe my ears when I heard someone say Yesterday that they were going to buy this device because of its FM radio, what's the use! I agree Brian, and most devices won't have 3.0 for a long time stil. Don't see the issue here. Its still good enough with 2.0, yes 3 is nice but not required. Hi For us in Europe I have just calculated that the cost of this gadget will be around £400, not bad but as we already have the internet radio on our vr streams mark 2, I am only really interested in the ocr and epub and other reading functions, apart from an I device what else would cover these features? It looks very good though. Re: HIMS Inc. Releases New Pocket-sized Media Player that Gives Blindand Visually Impaired Near-instant Access to Printed Text
Wel, as mostly the case, in the US, things are just cheaper, also in my region it will cost far to much. And I don't really care anyway, as I don't trust hims. Their programmers need much more detailed training. How do I not no if I get it that it won't be unstable like booksense? And they didn't even fix those issues. And then I will be sad about so much money spended. I support the device, but I'm not really excited, as it boggles my mind why they whent with acapela, not a good move since the stream already have it, and the pocket linio and other apps. And I doubt the FM radio reseption will be much better. It was very bad on the booksense. I rather buy the up coming Olympus dm7, wich I no have good hardware, exelent firmware wich is stable, I get a proper carrying case, and an overall great experience. That is going to be nicer than the dm4, and yes it don't have internet radio and OCR, but for those I rather wait till someone better make such device who I can trust 100%. Hims didn't even answer the questions about booksense ds just going nowhere. Not even sure what to do with my booksense in future, as I don't use it much anymore. But I will follow this product as it is defnitly an intresting development and the first of its kind. Only advantage in waiting a bit is that you hear what others are saying, read reviews etc, I won't be able to get one for quite some time - even if I wanted one - but - judging by the Youtube video I referred to earlier - we're going to see some most interesting chatter regarding this machine in the weeks and months ahead. well it clames it has internet radio listening cabability. not sure what that means. it also has a fm radio. it seams pretty interesting, but i don't know if i'll drop the over $700 for the thing. its over $700 because they charge shipping. the other thing that bothers me is unlike other technology these things don't go down in price. so if you don't buy it right away and want to wait, it doesn't matter because the price won't go down. i guess they are counting on a lot of agency perchases.
