Re: Creating a playlist in winamp?

2008-02-22 Thread chris ramsay
kathy its easy just go into winamp hit control tab til
jaws says windows playlist editor. to add a file to your playlist hit the l
key which will put you in an add files dialog box. tab to the place where it
specifies the files on your machine in a kind of tree view. you can then
navigate to the file you want and when its highlighted hit enter. repeat
the process and you can add files one by one to your playlist. you can add
an entire folder by hitting shift l at the beginning instead of l. hope
this helps.

OK suppose I select Folder1 and I then want to Select Folder2 but to
play in the same playlist; OK so once I get Folder1 playing, I go to
Folder2, and from the Context menu, select where it says Add to Winamp's
Playlist. Keep adding all the folders wanting to get included in the
Playlist. Lastly you have to in Winamp, save the playlist, which step I
forgot since I haven't done this in several years; any of you guys
remember how to save a playing playlist in Winamp?

RE: creating a playlist in winamp

2013-12-15 Thread Vítek
Hi,

m3u playlist file is a plain text file so you can create playlists in
Windows Notepad let's say or Wordpad whatever. Just create a new file
playlist.m3u, then in adjacent window perhaps in Total Commander file
manager navigate to the folder you want to make a playlist from, go to
menu/select/copy all selected files to clipboard and then copypast the
clipboard contents to the file you've created. Then of course close it and
the playlist is done.

If you don't use Total Commander you can easily do it via the command line

dir c:\the_full_target\ /s /b /o /n >c:\playlist.m3u

/o /n writes the files in alphabetical order. Of course the path to the
folder and the playlist file can differ according to your needs.

In my opinion creating playlists through WinAmp seems quite cumbersome not
talking about the fact there're a lot of useless trash in the file itself
but everybody can make it their way that's OK:).

The easiest thing then is to press shift-l, select the directory with
your Mp3 files and press enter. If you wish to keep the playlist press
control-s.

Incredibly easy, only one step is needed. Once all your desired
tracks are queued, just hit Control-S, and enter your desired
playlist name. Hit save and there's your M3U file.

Open playlist editor with alt-e, then ctrl-tab over to that window.
Hit shift-l to open the directory tree view. Then you will simply be able to
pick the folder you need. Then you're done...you can cycle through the list
with the arrows, or use the b, z, etc keys.

If winamp doesn't recognise the order properly, you may as well add them
manually with l instead of shift-l.

Hope that's reasonably clear.

OKsuppose the files in Winamp are lined up and play as I'd like them
on a playlist; what's the process, then, to out of the files currently
playing and in the order they're in, create the playlist? Hope I made
myself understood?

I just tried to explain that. But I neglected to say that you can save the
playlist with ctrl-s. Someone else beat me to it, though. If you don't save
the playlist, it will still be around until you reload winamp the next time.

the step that was left out is once you have placed the files you want in
your playlist press control s to save and name it for future playing.

If we can't look at ourselves, and ask, why? then where does the learning
start?
