Does anybody know if the author has addressed our accessibility
concerns since Version 11.5? If not, why are we even bothering to talk
about it, no less advertise it when new versions are published if we
can't use them?

I think knowing there's a new version out there is useful information
whether someone has the time to determine if accessibility has changed
or not. Besides, he's not the only one who can post that kind of

slight correction, with the previous version of this product not even system
Access would work but now? Well I'm using WE and I can move about with the
mouse keys to the various aspects of the screen which are shown clearly. for
example I can see the output folder and if I click on it the standard-type
browse dialogue button comes up and actually works!.

I can navigate the settings for MP3 format too! that makes a welcome change.

Okay, well firstly I've not looked at the latest version yet, problems?
Where does one start. Firstly I cannot for the life of me work out how
the hell you're supposed to select your output directory. Next, all the
extra configuration options for the MP3 format for example don't seem
to be avaiable any longer.

Yep, its fine! if you just want to convert files from the context menus
but that's not what I bought it for.

2011-05-30 Thread Dane Trethowan
Okay I'm pleased to say that it seems the latest build of Easy CD DA
Extractor has some fixes or changes which make things more accessible
than they have been, I can now select my output location for output when
ripping, how nice and that's a huge step forward again, this certainly
couldn't be done in the previous version under any screen reader I tried
it with and I used 4 of those.

Hi!

Okay some clarification.

I purchased Easy CD DA Extractor quite some time ago, in those days
the software was consistently accessible without a hitch, no need for
scripts, apps or anything else.

as we've progressed the software seems to have become more and more
inaccessible. I'm not blaming anyone for this, the possibility had
been put to me that because the way the software was written meant
that the software couldn't be accessible? Well i don't know about
that, that's something in the "Tech" department .

There are other CD rippers which are accessible such as Exact Audio
copy for one, I'm in no doubt that other people on list will have a
suggestion or two. The other software which springs to mind is
Winamp, I just registered my copy and as yet I haven' tried the CD
ripping features.

As for Easy CD DA Extractor? Well all I can say is that I hope the
software does become accessible again, I don't regret paying my
$49.00 for it for when I could use it the software was worth every
penny.

I think knowing there's a new version out there is useful information
whether someone has the time to determine if accessibility has changed
or not. Besides, he's not the only one who can post that kind of
information. I'd also suggest that if you want to encourage him to
provide that information you'd do it in a more straightforward and less
backhanded way.

Hi!

It seems that in later versions of this product you cannot configure
custom output formats as you could with earlier versions of Easy CD DA
extractor, here's an example of the sort of thing I'm talking about.

I use MP3 VBR quality for my work however it would appear that I cannot
configure Easy CD DA Extractor to encode to this standard any longer,
all I get is the constatant bit rates of 128KBPS and so on with no
option it seems to create entirely new profiles, am I missing something
here?

Cheers!

Well that's good news, after all I did buy it but I did think that the
accessibility issues ran deeper than just a fix, I.E. it was more to do with
coding and libraries that the software was using and to fix the problem
completely would necessitate a complete re-write? Well we'll wait and see.

Accessibility seems the same as other recent versions of Easy CD-DA
Extractor. Good in some parts of the program but the list of tracks
still doesn't read very well using Window-Eyes.

if you mean to place the storage for your converted files.
use system access to go or system access and you can get to that button with
out any problem.
you do insert m and then tab until you hear storage folder button and you
can enter on it and choose the place for your converted files.

I have to admit to not using it much these days, better solutions around
however if you're a registered owner of the software and you have
nothing else then its come a long way and results of ripping - as I
previously mentioned with the later versions - are incredibly accurate,
nearly as good as what you get with Exact Audio Copy for Windows and XLD
with the Mac.

Hi

If you have a license, I believe it's free up-dates for
life. If you go to their website, log in using your e-mail
address and serial key, you can get the downloads free of
charge. One thing though, if you install the ultimate
version, it doesn't remove the previous version so you will
have to copies installed which is unnecessary.

2010-01-28 Thread Dane Trethowan
If you're doing projects like books and the like then its more convenient to
have the output go to different folders, only way I can do that now is to have
Easy CD DA Extractor do its job and move from the "My Music" every time I rip a
CD.

will

be

if so launch system access to go. go to the converter and then do insert m

Hi!

I've just downloaded the latest Easy CD DA Extractor and I have to say that
this software has come a very long way and is nearly as good as Exact Audio
Copy now when it comes to ripping CD'S but I have one accessibility problem
that others may have found a way around, how the hell do you tell Easy CD DA
Extractor what output folder you wish to use?

I'm using Window-Eyes by the way.

I have some Easy CD DA Extractor scripts installed though I don't know
whether they've been updated, I'll check that now I come to think of it
. Anyway if anyone has any tips then let me know.

Easy CD-DA Extractor 12.0.1 is now out. I can't find a changelog or
history file on the Website, so I don't know what he's changed.
Certainly no mention is made about improved accessibility, and the last
time I taoked to the author about that he showed a distinct lack of
interest in making his interface fully accessible again. If anyone has a
list of changes, I'd love to read it.

I'll have another look, as I say its not one of the most widely used

i haven't seen any problems in accessiblity with the program,
also what part are you talking about that is not accessible?
in the new version the only thing i know of that is not accessible is the
list of tracks when ripping a cd.

Hi,
I downloaded version 11 of Easy CDDA Extractor from the page for
registered users. One thing that's holding me back from installing the
product is that during the installation, there's an options screen with a
checkbox-styled button that says "Enable context menus in Windows Explorer"
along with some buttons that JFW 9 can't read. Pressing them doesn't seem to

do anything. Does anyone know what these are for? Also, how accessible is

If I may chime in here.

I've been critical of the author of Easy CD DA Extracto in the past for
accessibility issues, it appears to me that as new versions of the
software have become available the less accessible they've become. Now
I don't know how true the following is but I've been told that the
author isn't entirely to blame for this, the fault it would seems lies
at the foot of Microsoft and the Windows library's that the Author is
tapping into for his software and its likely to get worse.

Again, I'm disappointed but I'm not worried because there are better
alternatives for extracting audio from CD and they don't cost a bean,
Exact Audio Copy and Max for example. I also have no regrets whatever
registering Easy CD DA Extractor, at least the author is working to
resolve issues but Easy CD DA Extractor seems to be (yet again) one of
these pieces of software that insist on giving us new features before
problems with the software are resolved.

2008-08-18 Thread Larry Naessens
Hi there Lauren. Easy CD-DA Extractor is a shareware program. You can use it
to burn Cds and to rip CDS to your computer in various formats. It offers a
trial period, allowing you to work with it and decide whether you like it
enough to buy it.

One cool aspect is that you can right click on a folder, arrow down to the
choice that asks if you want to burn the folder to CD using Easy CD-DA
Extractor, press enter, wait for the tracks to load, then press F8 to burn
the folder to disk. That's about as easy as it can get.

Re: Easy CD-DA Extractor Problem

2008-07-25 Thread Larry Naessens
It's new since the last time I was there to get an update. It is set up like
any other purchase. When I bought the program, I was told that upgrades
would be free, and they still are unless you need a new key. If I had lost
the key, I would expect to pay for my negligence. But if his provided key
does not work, it should not be my problem or my expense.

Re: Easy CD-DA Extractor Problem

2008-07-25 Thread Larry Naessens
I think it's around $40. The site claims that upgrades are free, but if your
key doesn't work you apparently have to by a new key. It only costs 8
dollars and something, but one cannot define that as free. I wrote to the
developer using an old address that I had for him, but the email bounced. I
tried using their tech support form, but the form could not be submitted
without either my key (which was rejected) or the email address used to
purchase the product. My email address was also rejected, despite the fact
that it has never changed. Maybe it's just time to move on.

RE: Easy CD DA Extractor, I should keep my mouth shut

2008-02-25 Thread David Truong
Hi,

I can verify all of Dane's findings hence why I went back to v10. But the
output folder was the main problem that annoyed me and I'm using Jaws 9.

Subject: Easy CD DA Extractor, I should keep my mouth shut

Right! well list members will know that I've been singing the praises
of Easy cD DA Extractor over the last few months because of the
advancements made in CD Error Recovery, the ability to write cue
sheets and so forth but now? Well I have to be honest when I say that
this application is trying my patience and I'm referring specifically
here to the latest build of version 11, I don't know whether the
developer has pains in the stomach or whatever but rather than a bug
fix release it seems to be a bug bare release, time to get out the fly
swat .
Now the first thing I noticed is that (for some reason) Easy CD DA
Extractor objects to converting Aif files to MP3, never had this
problem in previous versions and (according to Easy CD DA Extractor
itself) this format is supposed to be fully supported.
Next thing and this is probably the most annoying at the moment, how
the hell does someone tell Easy CD DA Extractor the precise location
of an output folder when ripping a CD? In the past I'm sure this
"combo box" was accessible and it could be manipulated but now? Well
I've tried everything with Window-Eyes and I can only get as far as
clicking on the "combo box", I can then move the arrow keys but these
only take me to the route folder of a drive with no speech output so
the only way I can find out what I'm doing is to continually reference
the "combo box" with the "we cursor".
And finally, don't rely on Easy CD DA Extracto to convert a cue sheet
and associated file to MP3 or whatever, this works some times but at
other times it doesn't, for some reason best known to Easy CD DA
Extractor, it objects to some of the characters present in a cue sheet.
So I'm interested, has any other Easy CD DA Extractor had any problems
or do they have any solutions? I'm particularly interested in the
problem I mentioned with the output folder as I would imagine that I'm
the only one on this list who bothers about cue sheets and converting
from Aif formats .

Re: Easy CD-DA Extractor Version 11.1 is now Available

2008-01-27 Thread Don Ball
I have noticed that of late with shopping carts. Try to actually click on it
with your mouse key and see if that works for you. I had a cart that just
kept going in a loop until I pressed the left mouse button on the next or
continue button. Hope this helps.

hi. I've been atempting, without much success, to actually purchase
Easy CD DA extractor, but my order never seems to go through. I know
this isn't really pc audio related, but i've entered all the
necessary information but nothing ever seems to happen at all. Is
there currently a problem with the order form or am I just gonna have
to be stuck with this silly 30 day trial? BTW I was atempting to
purchase the standard addition because that really is all I need,
plus it wasn't really made clear as to what the professional version
was, so I figured I would just go with the standard one.
Again, I've entered all the information correctly, or at least, it
sure looks like it's correctly but when i hit the next button, i just
keep going back to the same page with all the information I just
entered already in the edit boxes.
So it's like going in a circle, entering the same info over and over
again. If someone can tell me what might be happening I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

Gary, thanks so much. This worked great. I'm all registered and
updated to version 11.1.
Wowrks nicely so far! I was able to rip a CD in AAC plus and it
worked very well.

Re: Easy CD-DA Extractor Version 11.1 is now Available

2008-01-25 Thread Steve Pattison
Hi Peter,

Accessibility in this version is about the same as that in recent
versions. MusicBrainz at www.musicbrainz.org is a database containing
information about CDs a bit like FreeDB or the CDDB services. Here is
some information from the MusicBrainz home page:

MusicBrainz is a community music metadatabase that attempts to create a
comprehensive
music information site. You can use the MusicBrainz data either by
browsing this
web site, or you can access the data from a client program - for
example, a CD player
program can use MusicBrainz to identify CDs and provide information
about the CD,
about the artist or about related information. You can also use the
MusicBrainz Tagger
to automatically identify and clean up the metadata tags in your digital
music collections.

Regards Steve.

Yes, that's a minor issue that we've covered before but there are
several other issues relating to the performance of the software, one
of which I've already mentioned in a previous message.

Re: easy cd da extractor versions 11 and 10.5

2007-12-24 Thread Curtis Delzer
In version 11 I have to use my window-eyes cursor to click on the "convert"
button. A simple script could be written to search for that button and
"click" it, as well as a modified window-eyes set file.

2007-12-24 Thread Dane Trethowan
Speak of version 10.5, does anyone know where one can still get this?
The latest version has some problems.

Re: Easy CD DA Extractor: they've changed things

2007-11-25 Thread Gary Wood
It sounds like the AAC format is extremely superior to MP3!

Well, in several tests I ran, when Easy CDDA first began supporting AACPlus,
files I ripped in this format were significantly smaller than the same
material ripped at the same bit rate, in any other format, even other
implementations of the AAC format, such as Apples m4a. also, although no one
has yet been able to explain this to me, when I rip to AACPlus, even though
the sample rate is set to 44khz, the files produced report 88KHZ. Finally,
whether for this reason or another, files ripped to AACPlus just sound more
present, to me, than files in any format that isn't AAC, AND, as I said,
AACPlus files are significantly smaller than any other AAC format.

Dana, I read about ACC a couple of years ago but it was in the context of
stream casting. How would its benefits apply to the storage of files on a
local machine? thanks

Okay. I'm not sure exactly what a read offset is. But I get your point about
tailoring the software to the brand/individual drive.

As I said, I've been very happy with Easy CDDA, especially since they
introduced the AACPlus format (I rip everything to AACPlus, 192). And, as
I've already paid for the professional version, and am thoroughly familiar
with its interface, I'm not eager to start from scratch with another
product. But, maybe, in a few months, when I've paid off some other
expenses, and am feeling bored, I'll give it a whirl. I assume they offer an
evaluation copy/period.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Blessed Be,

Well for example, each drive has its own read and write offsets so in
order to rip and write audio CD'S accurately it helps if you can set
the ripping software to match those read and write offsets. For
example, as a rule, the Pioneer DVD drives have a read offset value
of +48 and a write value of -18.
