Re: PROBLEMS WITH THE NEWEST GOLDWAVE 5.5

2009-05-11 Thread Roger Stewart
For some reason the new Goldwave doesn't recognize the earlier Lame
encoder. However, if you're on line, it will come up with a box
offering to download it for you. Just choose the OK button and the new
encoder will be downloaded and installed for you. It will then continue
and save your file in mp3 format. Only thing I've noticed is this new
version of the encoder isn't nearly as fast or efficient as the earlier
one. Not a problem with an average single song, but when saving longer
files, such as chapters in a spoken word book, the increased time is
very noticable. Haven't used it enough yet to find if the encoded files
sound better than before but I would hope the extra time would be worth
something.

Hi Doc. If I unddrstand you correctly your problem happens when you are
deciding how to save the split files. You have the choice of cue neame,
track name, or a combination of the 2. Is that the problem that you are
encountering?

If it is, then GoldWave's default is still to choose the cue name. If you
want to save by track name, you need to arrow down one and continue to tab
through the remaining options to the ok button. If I'm misunderstanding,
please feel free to clarify and I can probably help you. I think you and I
are in the same business. you're transfering vinyl and tape to Cd, right?

Have they fixed the problem with split file feature. The reason I haven't moved
up to any of the newr versions is because it became too frustrating when
everytime i went to split a file I kept having to reset the naming dialog box
to what I had before. If they have fixed this so that once set it wil not
change until I change it then I'll be happy to move up.
