Re: reaper old version?
Hi! I've ben using Reaper for over a year and went from version 3.7 to the now available 4.16x and have noticed no accessibility issues, works well with my Screen Reader. Having said that I don't use each and every tool or function Reaper has to offer but I do know that these upgrades and updates are more bug fixes, performance enhancements and feature additions so its unlikely! that any deliberate attempt would be made to make future versions less accessible than older one's. If there is of course a known problem with accessibility then it should be brought to the attentions of the developers who have been absolutely superb in making Reaper accessible as compared to what it once was very early on. On 13/03/2012, at 11:24 AM, Joe Paton wrote: Hi list, By chance, does anybody have version 3.7 or there abouts of reaper? It certainly is not available from the web site as far as I can establish. My understanding is that this works considerably better with the REA screen reader plug in which rumour has it, is not being further developed to work with version 4.x. Rather the developer appears to have disappeared if that makes sense. Maybe another enthusiast will pick it up, got to be some dollars in it. Thanks for reading. Re: reaper and jaws skripts?
There aren't any JAWS scripts for it, but there *is* an access bridge you will definitely need. Get the program at http://www.reaper.fm/download.php (choose your operating system), and the access bridge (Windows only) at http://www.reaaccess.com/Downloads/ReaAccess.exe - Hope this helps. Hi Steve, I can't answer your question but I can tell you who made the Reaper tutorial. It was from the Cisco Academy for the Vision Impaired who offer online courses and are based in the state of Western Australia, in Australia. I see you're using Eudora. There must be a way of making it do a download instead of an open, but I think since it probably calls IE or whatever your default browser is, the fault and the fix probably lie with the browser. Could it also be that if you've installed ITunes, the default behaviour of downloaded audio files is to play them, and if so, it's a setting you'll need to change? Reaper is very cool, and in its infancy, relatively speaking, so now's the time to get in there and get your voice heard as it develops, evolves, grows, improves. The way things are going with Sonar and their new interface, Reaper could and probably will be the next big thing in accessible MIDI and audio production software. Hello James, When I clicked on this link I get a page about this domain is coming soon what's this all about? On 20/04/2011 00:31, James Scholes wrote: I just clicked the link here and it works fine, but if you go to http://www.cucat.org/class_notes/Thursday%20chats/2011/ the Reaper tutorial/introduction is the last one on that page and is called 20110408 Intro To Reaper.mp3. In regards to your query about documentation, a lot of the Reaper manual is useless for blind beginners as ReaAccess (the plug-in I mentioned earlier) changes many of the hotkeys and when using a screen reader many of the procedures to accomplish the basics are slightly different. That audio file should hopefully get you up and running, however if it does not, the ReaAccess website (http://www.reaaccess.com) features details on how you can join a mailing list specifically to talk about the use of Reaper with screen readers. Re: Reaper Multi Track recording software
I just clicked the link here and it works fine, but if you go to http://www.cucat.org/class_notes/Thursday%20chats/2011/ the Reaper tutorial/introduction is the last one on that page and is called 20110408 Intro To Reaper.mp3. I'm sure people will be happy to help you on there. Previously, Mac Norins said: That link did not work either, which leads me to believe that something may be wrong with the settings, in my I.E.! Thanks, Dane and James; I finally got the chat downloaded, but had to utilize the last link that James sent me and my mouse buttons, right mouse button then arrow down to save target, etc.! Finally got it; the chat started up playing, BTW, before the download completed, which I only usually hear, when downloading one of Mosen's Mushroom podcasts, I am afraid. This one started playing at about 65% of the download -- imagine that! I will peruse this puppy for awhile; sounds like a great alternative to Sonar! RE: Reaper and volumes with Rea Access
Where can I get reper and ray access? -Original Message- From: Mario [mailto:m...@tiscali.it] Sent: Tuesday, November 23, 2010 11:46 AM To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: Reaper and volumes with Rea Access Hi, I'am a blind user, and I'am learninng how to use reaper. I produce radio and video spots, and in these 5 years of work I've ever used Sound forge, that isn't a multitrack editor, so has some limitations for my work. On this list I've discovered that Reaper can become very accessible by using Rea Access, a tird parti plug-in that talks to my screen reader and allows movements between tracks, faders, triggers ecc. I've learned how to select, cut, paste, but I can't understand volumes. Often, for my work I have 2 or 3 tracks, one for the background music and the others for voices or effects. So I need to put down the volume of the background music and re incrementing the same volume when the voice track is finished. How I can do this with Reaper via keyboard commands? I've assigned a shortcut for inserting envelope points, but then I can't understand what I have to do. I don't want to use automation if possible because I don't have a midi controller, and automating volumes via keyboard can't be easy, especially if I want to create a gradual shape. Interested in this software which allows all sorts of plugins and effects to be patched and chained. Just wonder if anyone knows whether you can use things like compression and limiting live (in real time) or in-line between the audio inputs of a sound card and the recording software. Ray. Well, you can customize the keyboard shortcuts by pressing ? (shift+/). You can then search for the action you want to perform, such as arm track for recording then add a keystroke. After that you can press that keystroke to arm the track for recording. You can then press CTRL+R to start recording. -- Chris Hallsworth E-mail: christopher...@googlemail.com MSN: ch9...@hotmail.com Skype: chrishallsworth7266 - Original Message - From: Sunshine sunsh...@abe.midco.net To: PC Audio Discussion List pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Monday, May 18, 2009 10:53 PM Subject: Re: reaper ok, how do you go about starting a recording? session? how do you arm for to record? - Original Message - From: Chris Hallsworth christopher...@googlemail.com To: PC Audio Discussion List pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Monday, May 18, 2009 4:18 PM Subject: Re: reaper Reaper is fairly accessible. Re: Reaper and Accessibility
Hi Jim, This one appears to be a bit on the limited side from its description. I'd be more interested in Audacity. I just installed it a few days ago but haven't really dug into it, but I hear it too has some pretty significant accessibility issues. The difference is that Audacity appears to be *extremely* flexible and powerful, and, uh, hmm, it is open source so why haven't we managed to make it more accessible?
