Re: Slowing down speed in Soundforge 7

2009-11-13 Thread Ray
The simple answer re. slowing down recordings in SF7 is to go to the processes
menu and hit T. that opens a dialogue where you can shift tab or tab to the
presets drop down list where there are a few pre-defined speeds to slow down
or speed up the track you're working on.

Beyond that it gets a bit more complicated. for example, you can tab around
to the mode drop down to select the type of material you're working on.
this optimizes the compression to sound best to match the material you're
working with. there is a slider too which allows fine adjustment of the speed
up or down, but here's where scripts would come into their own. there is a
part of the time stretch dialogue that reports the adjustment as a percentage
and a script or possibly similar would pick that up.

should be enough to get you started though. I find time stretching and
compressing very useful in SF and use it all the time to tweak the times of
tracks in our talking newspaper.

Re: Slowing down

2005-04-02 Thread G. McFarlane
Hi Gary
I have both functions in Adobe Audition and in DC6 - somehow or other I
can't get this to work. When I slow things down, but not far enough things
sound promising, however when I attempt to get them exact I get distortion.

Cutting the sample rate - I tried this without any effect. How do I
resample? It's not just converting the file to a different rate as this
keeps things at the same level. How might I re-sample - is there any
software which might just cut the speed by 1/2 and similarly correct the
pitch? For so long this is only what you could do, but of course now the in
thing is to keep the pitch the same.

Thanks.

Hi Gordon. I think you can slow it down by cutting the sampling rate in
half, or you can use pitch shift, if you have Soundforge or Goldwave.

I have recorded 1 and 7/8 ips reel to reel tape at 3 and 3/4 speed and of
course have found the recording too fast. I'm fairly sure that it's
possible to slow this down to the normal speed by changing the sample
rate but am not sure what to do. Can anyone advise?

Hi Gordon. Well I use Soundforge. I haven't tried cutting the sampling
rate. I've only used the pitch shift function. That seems to work well for
me. I don't use Audition, so maybe someone who uses it might be of more
help. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help.
