replay 8.03

2007-01-10 Thread Roger R. Cusson
i had installed replay 8.03 for a client and what was different about 7 as
opposed to 8 was this new thing which was suppose to help one find streams
more accurately. it was like a second installer popped up and they were
using the nulsoft installer to run this small program. i sure cannot
remember what it is called now but what happens if you do not choose to
install it. they said it was a recommended install but one can sure opt out
of this secondary installer so, what was that small utility called again and
is it really necessary and what does it truly do for us with these web
streams. again this is found in replay 8 . x versions. what do we really
need it for just curious...

Roger, I know what you're referring to and it's called Win Cap. Replay 8
asks if you want to install this Win Cap thing, and quite honestly I don't
know what it is or if it's really needed. I installed it anyway because I
thought I had to, but I too am wondering what this is and if it's really
needed. Hope someone more knowledgeable can clue us in.

Re: replay 8.03

2007-01-08 Thread Chris Skarstad
Hi. Actually, there are a lot of reasons why 8.03 is better than
7.x, my favorite is the fact that the program will wait longer
before trying to give up on recording a stream. If the stream dies,
replay will wait longer before it gives up and says it can't
record. and for some folks with slower connections this can be a
real bother since getting streaming audio over a slower connection is
tougher to do sometimes.

It also seems like it's easier to record different things with 8.03,
but maybe that's just me. Hey if you have 7.x it's only $9 to
upgrade. Not bad.

Hi. I would say that Replay A/V version 8.03 is *much* better than
8.02. You can certainly use 8.02, but it's a little more intensive
on routing cursors, and let's face it, not everybody is good at
that. The folks at Aplian have made a significant jump with version
8.03 of Replay A/V for the following reasons.

*You can press the space bar or enter key on a button and have it
perform that action, as you were able to do in version 7 and it
works just as you might expect. If you did this in version 8.02, you
would get an error message because the button you were on didn't
 gain focus.

*They've introduced a menu bar with version 8 which may make things
easier to find for some people. So if yu're in the program, arrow
through the choices and find out what's there. Don't be scared to
try any of them, they won't hurt your system in any way at all.

*the interface of the program is very similar to that of version 7,
so if you know what you're doing with version 7 you should have no
problems. As far as importing things from version 7, it's imported
all my shows with no problems whatsoever, the transition was smooth
   as you'd like.

I think the reason you got some .cap files was because the stream may
have been dropped or interrupted in some way. Unfortunately with
streaming audio, this is the nature of the beast, and outside of
getting yourself the fastest connection possible, there isn't a
 lot you can do.

Should I stay with 7 or venture into 8? I am mostly worried about my

Hi Chris,

Not to mention that Replay Converter is included free of charge and is a
great way to pretty quickly convert among different audio file formats.

Hi,

I never did figure out how to use version 7, but, I'm
determined to movce forward with version 8. I did notice, when
installing it, that, at the end of the installation process, it
noticed that I had v7 on my system and asked me if I'd like to have
settings, saved, so, I'd say, go for it.
