Hello Roger,

Well you have used all the tools which I would have thought should give
you extracted audio, obviously though, they will not work where
protection is in force. I guess to get the job done, although not in a
timely manner, I'd make analogue recordings of the source discs, set
goldwave or your prefered recorder to set queue points for 3 second gaps,
then encode the resulting files.
At least you have the joy of listening to those fabulous tracks again.

DMCA is a nasty inposition by the record label though, and it would
anoy me as I guess it is anoying you.
Mind you, It would be good to know if you circumvent the drm or
equivalent on these discs.

Good luck, and good listening.

I'm in the UK so hopefully that draconian rule will not apply to me. But it
probably answers why the discs are so well protected. Time life is a US

Just a note, the DMCA, if you live in the states, does not let you
decrypt discs, even for your own personal use. This is one of the
reasons why the DMCA needs to be rewritten!

I also now bought this excellent programme.

One disappointment though.

It seems that you can only save in .wav format should you want to go totally
lossless.

I had some drm protected files which are encoded in wma lossless. It
removes the protection that is fine but it seems that you can can only save
up to a maximum of 320 kbps wma or .wav. the .wav files are of course
lossless but with them you cannot edit tags for artist, album, etc. Even
apple's lossless format would have been fine as I have itunes on my machine.

Hey, Doc, yes, Soud Taxi rocks, except that it won't convert RAX files. For
that, I use All Music Converter (which is essentially Sound Taxi) to do
that, and it doesn't do it very well, sadly.

By the bye, I'm glad to see your Scottie sgnature back. It still makes me
laugh out loud!

Hi, Arthur, are you using it with rax files, though? I know it works with
wma files pretty well, but it's the rax files I've had trouble with.

I use sound Taxi and it's main selling point is the ability to convert
copyrighted tracks for which you have an active license.

Hi, Jim. You may be right, but it seems that allmusicconverter converts rax
files into mp3, which sound taxi doesn't seem to. My gripe with all music
converter is that sometimes the mp3's that it produces can have weird little
skips or odd repititions in the tracks. I've written to the programmers

Ken, Sound Taxy is a conversion program. As we've been telling you now for
years, to do what you want to do requires a recording program such as Gold
