Re: wmp 11 menu trouble

2007-04-11 Thread David Bailes
Hi,

The most common place you get a popup menu is when
you're focused on an object and you press the
application key to get a shortcut (context) menu. This
menu is a popup menu, it's not part of the main
window, and only appears when needed. Similarly, if
you use the new style main menus in wmp 11, there is
no permanent menu displayed, but it appears if you
press alt.

The outline of burning a cd in wmp 11:
1. press the burn button to move to the burn page.
This page has a similar layout to the library page,
except that the list pane contains the burn list
(which jaws reads as the basket list view!).
2. insert a blank cd.
3. To add items to the burn list: select items in the
primary list view, press the application key, and
choose add to burn list from the shortcut menu.
4. To burn the cd, press the start burn button at the
end of the list pane, or press alt + s.

Hi,
What do you mean when you say popup menu? I also have
the menubar problem,
but intermittently. For the most part, I can
navigate using WMP 11 the same as version 10.
Howeever, I've yet to figure out how to select tracks
for ripping - I just
cut and paste them from My Music Folders onto the cd
drive and select burn
to CD option and usually no problems from that point
on.
I did for awhile have the same problem with CDs
stopping 2/3 through the
burn process, but I've since cleaned the lense via a
disc with tiny brush to
wipe over the lense as well as blowing out my entire
unit...

Thanks David. Very helpful info. If I get used to the new way the library
works, I might even keep this version. It does sound better with SRS Wow
which I use all the time.

neither alt or esc leaves the classic menus - it's
best to use the new style popup menu. To leave the
popup menu use esc. Also there's a bug when you first
open the new style popup menu after logging in: all
the keystrokes to navigate around the window stop
working. To work round this, press ALT + TAB which
closes the menu, and then press alt to open the menu
again.

It's not as friendly as wmp 10. If you list by artist
in the library tree, move to the primary list view and
choose an artist, then the songs are grouped by album,
but I don't think Jaws reads the album titles. An
alternative is to select the album view in the Library
tree, go to the search box (ctrl + e), type in the
artists name (or first few letters), press down arrow,
and you're at the top of the list of albums in the
primary list view. (the above search actually matches
to text in any of the columns - if you want to ensure
it only matches to an artist, type eg, artist:bono.

wmp 11 menu trouble

2007-04-07 Thread Bobcat
I just got WMP 11 by accident. So, I figured I'd give it a go.

So far, I can get around the player fairly well. I just have one stupid
problem. It's the menu bar. No matter whether I turn on classic menus or
not, the menu bar gets focus and I can't tab around the main interface. I
have to use the Jaws cursor to click on the display to bring focus away from
the menu. It's like the menu bar was activated but won't go away. Pressing
alt doesn't dismiss it.

Actually, there are a few other problems, like: The Jaws keystrokes to
focus to the play list or library tree view don't work now. And, I can't
figure out how to select different albums when I select an artist in the
play list
