So much would rely on the systems put in place and making sure that the assessment is reasonable and measurable and non-discriminatory in nature, but wow, the suffering that it could potentially prevent. This is the most stupid idea I've ever heard anyone on this list seriously advocate in all the years I've been participating. It's on the intellectual level of a 12 year old. You really need to read up on this history of this sort of thing before you put your fingers on the keyboard. [...] St. Louis county (surrounding, but not including, the city of St. Louis) has, or at least had, blue laws which restricted the sale of alcohol on Sundays. From the time the bars closed at 1 or 2 AM until noon, I couldn't buy any, which is ridiculous because all the people who care are in church and couldn't see me buying it anyway. Maybe that's the reason for the blue law. It would have been impossible for them to keep tabs on us drunks if we could just do whatever the hell we wanted while they were singing some damn depressing hymn. But I can't blame that on the Baptists. St. Louis is predominantly Catholic. Go figure. That's unusual - normally it's the Catholics who have all the fun. The protestants are the miserable ones. NiMH C cells are fairly easy to come by; in Oz JarCar sell them, not sure anywhere else, but any electronics stockist should have them. The ones I have seen are 4500MAh. K-x
Has any one found a K-x, new, with out a kit lens. I have looked at Henrys, Visteck and McBains and they all sell it for $699 with the 18-55 kit. I'm shooting my nephews wedding in July and i have talked to them about what they want. They are looking for minimul flash, and as much natural light as possible. I'm now toying with the idea of getting the K-x to use in any building and reception hall shots. I'm very impressed with the high ISO shots form Bruce, Larry and Adam, that i have seen so far. I was planning on getting some of those umbrella adaptors that go on light stands and a radio trigger for this event, from link-delight, but i may just get them anyway to have. My daughter Anna and her 3 friends have formed a musical theatre performance collective called Upside Down Frown Productions. Their first show, This has Nothing to do With Love, was in the basement bar of an Italian restaurant in central London. A sellout both nights. I was there to provide the sound system, but couldn't resist taking some pictures during the dress rehearsal (Anna's the one with the blue bands on her mic). http://www.mitch.myzen.co.uk/NothingtodoWithLove/slides/_IGP1800.jpg http://www.mitch.myzen.co.uk/NothingtodoWithLove/slides/_IGP1841.jpg http://www.mitch.myzen.co.uk/NothingtodoWithLove/slides/_IGP1847.jpg http://www.mitch.myzen.co.uk/NothingtodoWithLove/slides/_IGP1854.jpg http://www.mitch.myzen.co.uk/NothingtodoWithLove/slides/_IGP1859.jpg The performance was fantastic; the light was absolutely rubbish - K7D, DA* 16-50 and DA* 50-135, ISO 3200, mostly a 60th at f2.8. Awesome! Choice quote from Tim's announcement (http://www.tbray.org/ongoing/When/201x/2010/03/15/Joining-Google): because freedom’s not just another word for anything, nor is it an optional ingredient. Yes! furthermore, Tim also states about the iPhone: I hate it. He can't be a bad person. So congratulations, Tim. I feel this is an important move in your career, even though you won't actually move anywhere. And that's an achievement in and of itself. You can't put a price on working in your pyjamas. Now, do you need a remote assistant or something? Let me know if you're hiring. My qualifications: - I can surf the web. A lot. Like, really, a lot. I'm even using the internet while I type this e-mail. I know, astonishing. - I can program in Fortran. I believe the internet is Fortran's ultimate frontier. Just think about it, Android calculating and running subroutines in Fortran--that would be so retro! - I don't blame Canada for *anything*, not even for winning *that* gold medal in Vancouver. - I hate iPhone. I wouldn't use anything plastic in the dark room. Taken on Valentine's Day last month. http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=10809854 That's one way of being brutal and honest... Fascinating. I really must go back to Rome and visit all these places. I've only been to Rome once, for a few hours, and didn't get time to see anything (apart from the outside of the Coliseum). Re: GESO - Runde at wintertime
Thanks Ann. CA is chromatic aberration, a generic term for color artefacts that usually shows up in high contrast situations. It is hard to see it at this resolution, so it isn't really relevant. It was just a techie way of telling who the person is.
