That´s OK. :-) Putting a picture on the internet and drawing attention toward it everyone has the right to think what they want and I appreciate it when they tell me. Re: GESO - At Daytona with Bobby Allison, 1983
Thanks Frank. Although I'm surprised at how soft some of my old long lens shots were. Today's bodies are steel, and due to fan displeasure, Nascar has gotten away from the single-shape body template, allowing some manufacturer diversity. But, yes, even in 1983 the racing was more stock car than today. You have to go back to the mid sixties for the real thing. That's when Nascar started slinging rules left and right to prevent one make dominance. On Mar 26, 2013, at 11:24 PM, knarftheria...@gmail.com wrote: Great stuff, Paul. One way to help prevent the all Canikon coverage in the media is by making your use of Pentax known. If your model is not listed, there is also an open field for Camera Not Listed near the bottom of the form. Film shooters will also find a couple of questions at the bottom. While we are talking about it, this most recent issue has an article on ADVANCED USE OF HUE/SATURATION ADJUSTMENTS that may be of interest to some. http://www.onlandscape.co.uk/2013/03/saturation-by-colour/ Seeing that (or any) free article requires a log-in (registration is also free). Re: OT Really f*ck*ng annoying.
From: P.J. Alling To make a long story short. The USPS finally did the right thing and forwarded the package to my local Post Office, and put a delivery notice in my P.O. Box. I had contacted Adorama to find out how to a. end this round robin and b. keep it from happening in the future. Adorama didn't give me an answer, but they did refund the shipping charges, so there's that. I'm fairly happy with the results, (it was pretty funny in a way, they shipped my item in a box big enough to hold several hundred of them), except, I still have no idea which address to give them when I order again... Adorama offers USPS priority mail as one of their standard shipping options, which should allow you to have it shipped directly to your P.O.Box. http://www.adorama.com/help/shippingAndDelivery Their shipping FAQ says they ship to P.O.Boxes and to APO/FPO addresses. It says allow 6-8 weeks, but I think that really only applies to APO/FPO addresses. My experience with having stuff shipped USPS Priority Mail is it's about the same speed as UPS Ground with the exception that the USPS *does not* charge extra for Saturday delivery. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

But I also found it at Amazon for $23 Canadian, with free shipping. And no Lorem ipsum. :) It takes a standard 12V - 5.5AH gel-cell. I'll bet there's a Canadian company that's the equivalent of Batteries Plus where you can walk in buy them off the shelf. I'd never considered that these might be standard -- I always assumed some oddball custom thing. But you're right, it's also used in exit signs and alarm systems. So I did a search and located a few places around that carry such SLAs. The average price is still around $30 though. That is, when I could even see a price. Most places say call for quote. And the ones that seem to be battery marts are all located inconveniently on the other side of town. So I've ordered it through Amazon. I don't mind if it takes a couple of weeks to arrive. We don't have power glitches all that often anyway. But thanks for the suggestion as I'm going to do some more digging and see if there's a place closer to me. Thanks for looking and commenting, Ken. I tried to focus on the eye of the top fish, but they were moving around quite rapidly, so I was happy that I got as close to the focus as I did. The thingies to which you refer are pieces of coral in the tank. I thought about cloning them out, but I decided that add a little context to the image. Perhaps however that works for me only because I know what they are. If I remove them, the image would become more of an abstract; perhaps it would be better that way. I like the composition and the patterns in this image. I had mixed feelings about the shot, however, and didn't post it here until after it was approved in the PPG. I knew this would be a much tougher audience. calibrating multiple screens
Years ago, I bought a datacolor spyder 2 express (or whatever the inexpensive one was) because there was supposed to be software available to use it on a Linux box. Datacolor explicitly mentioned that they didn't want their units used on linux and wouldn't help. I eventually gave up, and bought an iMac. The software for it specifically prevents using it to calibrate multiple monitors on the same computer. There are workarounds, but they are a pain in the ass. I'm looking to upgrade it to one that will calibrate multiple monitors. Since datacolor are such dicks about hobbling their hardware to sell more expensive software, and about linux, I'd rather not buy another product from them. Re: calibrating multiple screens
Like you, I started with the Spyder II Express. But I knew going in that it would only calibrate my main monitor, and that its functions were limited. But at the price it sold for, it was a good buy, and it did a good job. I recently bought a Spyder IV Pro, and it does a great job on both of my monitors, with measures of ambient light and screen brightness in addition to white point, black point and color rendering. You get what you pay for. Some other calibration devices are more highly rated than Datacolor's, but I have no complaints. Mj prints are a precise match for what I see on the monitor, and my clients are always very pleased with the rendering of my photos. Re: Q Macro Test shots - M 50 f4 and Bolt Macro Ring Light
Thanks - I tried the flash in all of the various settings. At first I thought it was something to do with the Q to K adapter, since installing a flash forces the camera to the 1/13th second synch. But it happens with regular Q lenses as well. The ring light works on every other camera I tired (4 of them) so it must be something about the Q. I wondered if it is the hotshoe itself on the Q (thinking that maybe the ringlight wasn't seating properly or something) but I tried a hotshoe adpater F and it still does not work. An AF360FGZ works just as it should on the Q so I'm not sure what is going on. Not a big deal since I would want the continuous ring light to be on continuously for metering purposes anyhow. It works on every camera I have except the Q for some reason. Regular flashes work on the Q so I am stumped for the time being. I'm sure it is just some menu setting I am missing.
