I worked in Mexico City for a few weeks in 2003. Even in the toney Polanco

houses were walled with coiled razor wire atop the walls. Sometimes we forget
how good we have it.

The annual has landed

2017-05-03 Thread Paul Stenquist
To my great surprise, it’s here. I opted for delivery by mule train, the
cheapest option, but the UPS guy just dumped it at my front door. Looking
forward to spending time with it when my work day ends.

Re: PESO: The last time I saw Paris

2017-05-03 Thread John Sessoms

That's mainly due to the Posse Comitatus Act, which prohibits using the
military for domestic law enforcement.

The soldiers deployed to America's airports after 9/11/2001 came from
the National Guard. The governor of the state *can* use the National
Guard in that manner.

I was on airport duty at RDU airport until mid-September 2003 (when the
30th BCT mobilized for Iraq).

That was the thing that I found most distinct about European airports,

this everywhere. I've never seen that in the US.
