G'day all,

Some great musical suggestions this month - some familiar (always happy to
listen to Paul Simon & Jimmy Buffett) and some new to me (Sara Bareilles -
thanks Don!). Take a moment to enjoy the images and listen to the music (click
on the speaker icon in the title).

View here:

Thanks for putting this together, Brian. It is a small gallery, but an
interesting one.

I screwed up somehow. "Artist or Composer: Daniel Matyola "
should read: "Artist or Composer: Jimmy Buffett."

I like Ann's image the best, and I believe that it certainly best fits the
theme and the guidelines. "Dancing Moon" by John Sessoms is simply a great
image.

The guy in my image is my friend, and the woman to his right is his wife.
They are from Anacortes, WA, and stay at the same condo in Maui we do. Our
trips overlap by a few weeks, and we usually go sailing together at least
once and meet for meals at our favorite restaurants. Del and I usually run
into each other at the hot tub every evening and compare notes while
entertaining the Canadians. The standing woman is one of the crew, who
passes out drinks and snacks after helping launch the ship; the other
people just happened to be in the frams.

USB HUB Recommendation for MacBook Pro

2018-06-05 Thread Christine Aguila
Hi All:

I’m in the market for a USB hub to plug into my MacBook Pro/Retina 2013. I’d
like at least 3 USB ports in the hub for external drives. The Belkin on the
Apple web site didn’t have good reviews.

Can anyone recommend a good hub?

...and I only got rained on for an hour!

2018-06-05 Thread Mark Roberts
Back in Boston after two days of riding up from North Carolina. The
ride was rain-free until I reached I-90 in Massachusetts. Probably the
worst place for it to come, given the combination of aggression and
incompetence known to be the distinguishing characteristics of
Massachusetts drivers. And the road is currently half way through a
resurfacing job, so it was like off-road riding on a road. Somehow I
survived and made it home intact.

I'm currently loading the photos from England onto my hard drive. I
haven't even looked at the ones from GFM yet. This may take a while...

Re: USB HUB Recommendation for MacBook Pro

2018-06-05 Thread Godfrey DiGiorgi
The last time I bought a USB hub was in 2015; I'm sure there are others out
there now…

That one is a powered 4-port USB3 hub with a big "+P" logo in the middle of its
face that I purchased from Fry's Electronics when I upgraded my hard drive
enclosures to USB3. It's been working perfectly since I got it … No idea what
the make is anymore.

These are electronics commodity items. Most are impossible to tell from one
another, in performance or whatever. I wouldn't worry about it all that much.
I've never had this kind of item from Belkin fail me either … the powered
7-port USB 2 hub I bought back in 2008 or 2009 is still in use and still
working perfectly too. :-)

That is, I think, the important thing: For serious use, buy a USB hubs that has
its own power supply and doesn't draw power from the USB port on the computer.

PESO - Utrecht bicycles

2018-06-05 Thread Rick Womer
There are even more bicycles per capita in Utrecht than in Amsterdam. That’s
not easy.

Re: June PUG is up

2018-06-05 Thread John
I've had the Holly Dunn song stuck in my head for a while. Weather wouldn't
cooperate to allow me to make a new photo to go with it.

Here's an alternative take:

Thanks , Dan !
It struck me that the guy on the boat in your shot looked like he could be
related to Buffet..

Of the music choices , John Coyle's does it for me.. I don't have to play the
clip - I can hear it in my head... and I quite like that photo as well.

- butit would have been a draw on the music if John Sessions had used the most
appropriate MOON DANCE by Van Morrison for his Dancing moon  - I saw this post
before I looked at the photos and was sorely disappointed about that :-) Moon
Dance is one of my very favorite songs, but I hadno

appropriate shots.

Brian's photo is my favorite and the music is nice too - new to me.

"Dancing Moon" by John Sessoms is simply a great
image.

Re: PESO - Utrecht bicycles

2018-06-05 Thread Henk Terhell
Rick, nice color contrast, but I would straighten the pic more (there
are not many slopes in this country).
Utrecht is smaller than Amsterdam but also a university town with many
students so this will explain it.

In the Netherlands there are 1.3 bikes per capita.
