Re: coming comet
I went out and looked for it a little while ago (around 9:00pm EST). I figure if it's visible to the naked eye & can be photographed with a 35mm lens, I should be able to find it with my binoculars. Once I can find it with binoculars, I'll get the tripod & camera out. I can see Orion & the Pleiades fairly clearly (5 of 7 sisters with my "naked" eye) and those are the constellations I need to guide me to the comet's location. But no joy so far. I'll have to get away from town & try again. Definitely an Asahi PENTAX Spotmatic, fitted with a 50mm f/1.4 Super Takamar (that's most obvious in the third brief appearance at 0:32 into the clip). Qimage
I've been using Qimage, a printing utility, for years. Its resampling system automatically resamples your image to your printer's native resolution during printing (without altering the image file itself), which really does seem to result in improved detail. It also does non-destructive cropping and arrangement of multiple prints on a single sheet of paper. But today I discovered one of its best features. Have you ever run a inkjet head test pattern and discovered you need to run a cleaning cycle? And then cringed at the thought of how much expensive ink was being used in the process? Yeah. Been there, done that. But I just discovered can run its own cleaning cycle, independent of the print driver and - get this - you can have it run the cycle ONLY for the ink that's showing problems! BRILLIANT! I would rhetorically ask why the printer manufacturers don't offer the same option... but since they're the one's who sell ink I expect everyone can work it out. -- Mark Roberts - Photography and Multimedia www.robertstech.com 617-522-0174 -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

The magazine was just published, and I’m pleased. Here’s the cover: https://www.photo.net/photo/18511271/February-2019-Cover This is my original. Pentax K-1 plus D FA 150-450, f5.6, 1/160th, ISO 200, tripod, remote shutter and mirror up. You can see it differs minimally from the final version for which the magazine art director brightened the nose a bit and cropped the image very tight: https://www.photo.net/photo/18511270/My-Original-Image And here’s my lady friend, Charmaine, lighting the font of the car with a reflector: https://www.photo.net/photo/18511269/Light-it-Up -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

Top notch! Always wonderful to see your photographs, Marco! Glad for all enjoying the bit of rain. Guess our small snails aren't all that much of a concern after all. Thanks for posting, Alan.
