Photo shops on canada (pentax in Spain)

2003-09-30 Thread Emilio Puga
Hi cotty, buying in USA is a option that I had, but there is one
problem TAXES for any shipping made from outside Europe, they are
charging me near a 40% on the price... And this make it more expensive
than buying in Europe.
I think I will finally end buying a Canon EOS 10D (1440 euros) and a
Canon 17 40 F4 for a little more than I have a IstD in Spain.
I think I am selling a lot of Pentax Equipment
Thanks cotty

Didn't you say that you're on Mallorca - an island ? This is obviously
island mentality. Everything's always more expensive. Check out UK
prices

www.camerworld.com

www.warehousexpress.com

and we're still much pricier than the USA. It just ain't fair. You could
order direct from someone like Warehouse Express and have an item sent
to
you in Spain?

Hi, Emilio,

I think the largest store (or one of them) in Toronto is Henry's, at 119
Church Street, right at the corner of Queen Street, downtown.

http://www.henrys.com/

There's also Vistek. They're about a mile or two east of Henry's, on
Queen
Street between Parliament and River. I can't give you their url,
because
their site freezes my old computer every time. If you Google Vistek's,
though, you'll find it. I know they sell Pentax, but they don't usually
have much in their display case.

Aden Camera, Yonge Street, between Dundas and Gerrard:

http://www.adencamera.com/

Look at that, they have the *ist D on special right on their front
page!!
Their price comes in at 1638 Euros with the 18-35 lens.

Downtown Camera is on Queen Street East, right around the corner from
Henry's (south side of Queen, just west of Church).

http://www.downtowncamera.com/

Those are the major outlets here in downtown Toronto. Maybe one of the
suburban boys can help out with stores outside of downtown, but I'm sure
your friend will be downtown anyway.

Hope this helps.

cheers,
frank

Oh, god apologise me, don´t buy a MZ-S, BUY TWO OF EM. Well, I have to
say you that mine was of the earlier series, new cameras don´t have this
problems, and believe me it´s a GREAT CAMERA, yesterday I held a Dinax 7 and
yes It looks like if it were designed by George Lucas, but doesn´t have the
finish of my beloved pentax, and one detail, one of the first things I look
when someone try to sell me a camera is to look at the bottom, and guess
what I found on Dinax/Maxxum 7??¿¿
MADE IN MALASYA Now I understand those cheap plastics.

Tokina´s 80-400 growing bayonet

2002-04-14 Thread Emilio Puga

Hey, I think I have to change my name, for “the trouble boy”. I´ve got a
tokina 80-400 for 3 years, and suddenly, after a medium period without
using it i´ll try to mount it on the camera, and guess………. IT DOESN´T
FIT ON THE BAYONET. It is like if the bayonet has grow and makes
excessive pressure on the camera,
Anyone had this problem with any lens???
Buhhh I think that I have to change my system for a digital compact.

Problems with lenses aperture and PENTAX

2002-04-14 Thread Emilio Puga

Oh, my finger ran to the send button with only one word in the message,
ok I want to tell you a problem that noticed months ago with my Z1p and
last week with 645n and MZ-S; if you mount the lens, and (without making
excessive strength) turn it out a like to right side you will notice how
it have a lite looseness, and it is ended in a increase of half of a
stop of diaphragm readout, you put F8 on the lens and you have F9,5 on
viewfinder.
Anyone else with this problem?? You know if other brands have the same
problem??
Thanks,

I tested the MZ-S with the battery pack BG-10, fresh AA lithium

per second, as stated by Pentax.
Perhaps it is not the same with other Pentax cameras, but I think that
the poster of the Photozone message that Brendan quotes is wrong, or his

MZ-S is faster than mine (sample variation?).

RE: MZ-S Data imprinting

2001-12-23 Thread Emilio Puga

Ok, let it go untill tomorrow, when I will do the test. I´m gonna place
the camera in the dark box, cut the film, and put it on the processor, I
think this is the way for doing the test.

I honestly don't know Bill but some have done similar experiment as you
and gotten a different result. I can't explain it.

RE: MZ-S Data imprinting

Hi people. Last summer I did the test for 2 weeks each day, and if my
alzeimer don’t confuse me I can remember that film cutted on darkbox and
putted in a chassis didn´t show any exposure data, but if you want I can
make the test again next Monday.

Yes, that's exactly what happens. It prints the data for the frames
exposed after the film was loaded. If you expose only frame 24-36 it
prints only on those frames. Same if you expose frame 1-12.

It has been done and it didn't print on those frames.

MZ-S Vs..................F5?

2001-12-15 Thread Emilio Puga

Today I´ve been talking about a job next friday, and he came with his F5
and micro nikkor 105, curiosity was killing me, what about doing a
challenge between his N and my MZ-S?.
These were the results.
First look: Ok, Mz-S is small (very small near F5), but if you talk
about visual built quality……. Mz-S look very near from N flagship-
Real build quality: there is a big diference in price and F5 is full of
metal everywhere, big diference in camera back, but not a lot more in
the rest of the camera.
AF Speed and accuracy: big surprise, Mz-S hunt where N** fails,
Can´t apreciate a big diference in AF Speed.
Vertical Grip: I´m the one who thinks that BG-10 its almost perfect??
Vertical and horizontal grips are at the same distance from lens,.
Ok, don´t have same specs but I think I don´t need 5 fs and also 1/6000
its enougth.
Gadgets: miss MRC, DOF level design, Hyper Operation, Integrated Flash,
gain Manual rewind, and a pair of details.
Conclusion, I DON´T WANNA PAY THE DIFERENCE BETWEEN THESE TWO CAMERAS
only for a metalic back.

Rob,

I have two units and both function as you describe for tilting. While
the build quality isn't superb, it does feel adequate. If you try out
the wireless operations with the MZ-S, I think you will be happy. Note
that the MZ-S can be set so the popup flash is just a controller and
pressing the LCD illumination button can trigger the modeling light on
the flash. I am pleased with the features.

My thoughts entirely - I'm about to head off and buy some pre-rolled
Delta
400. I have run about 35 rolls of regular film so far (and had four
stuck
- one of which was regular XP2) but I haven't used pre-rolled 'true' B&W
(although for the life of me I cannot think this will make a difference
-
just want to be sure). I'll run some tests and document them as at the
moment I am aware that without clearly defining the problem, it is hard
to
get to a clearly defined solution. I'll post the results as soon as I
can.

Cheers
P.

PS. Anyone know how long Pentax UK take to fix and return a camera?

Perhaps you can consider the Z-1p/PZ-1p which you can alter the aperture

throught the body (when the lens was set at 'A'). This way, you don't
rely
on the plastic aperture coupling ring at all.

RE: PLASTIC aperture pin BROKE (SFXn) ;( METAL ONE?

2001-12-09 Thread Emilio Puga

Hi, few months ago I´ve changed my Z1p ring for the one of a Z10, it´s
almost the same piece, It´s very easy to do. I think you can call your
Importer and ask for the piece, or try to repair it yourself.
Good Luck,

Perhaps you can order the part (just a plastic ring with a tiny piece of

metal on it) yourself from Pentax and then designed what to do next.
It's a
few buck only as I remember.

Hi:
I am going to quote myself. This is the message I sent to the list about
this matter six months ago:

"Yesterday I installed a SB-21 focusing screen, intended for use in the
LX
in my MX. The new focus screen is 1 and 1/2 stops brighter, then I have
to compensate using the ASA scale of the exposure meter.
That's the only change observed, besides the brighter image through the
viewfinder, which makes focusing easier."

Here I go again...

LX BODY:
- LX body. Old style shutter. Serial no. 529. Focuses at infinity
and
the mirror doesn't sticks. The bumpers shows some degradation, so I
suppose
the syndrome will appear in a near or far future. The cosmetics are
good.
Fully functional.
- FA-1 finder.
- Grip A very nicely shaped and painted black.
- Strap lugs and sync terminal covers.
- SC-69 "Japan-Only" New screen installed. Also includes original box,
case
and tweezers.
- SC-21 Additional screen.
- Original LX Everready Case.
- Pentax logo 3rd party strap.
I have some pictures of it. They were taken by the list member I bought
it
from some few months ago. Contact me privately if interested.

K 50 1.2:
In excellent plus condition. Glass unmarked, with just some minimal dust
speks, no fungus or scratches. Smooth as butter aperture with unique
K-series feeling. Lens barrel as new. A jewel. Both original caps.

I'm interested in trading the LX and/or lens for Pentax AF stuff ( ZX/MZ
5n, ZX/MZ 3 or PZ/Z 1p, and AF zoom or prime lenses).
Regards

Albano

RE: TTL multiflash with METZ

2001-11-19 Thread Emilio Puga

Yes it is, but I think that if you put a ND filter on the front of a TTL
flash the output will be regulated for giving the correct exposure (no
contrast control), that´s the way the TTL goes, the camera read the
exposure, is like if you were trying to underexposure a photo using a ND
filter on the lens of the camera, autoexposure will compesate it.
Yes contrast control works with the RTF and a external flash, but I
think you´ll need the sincro cable.
All the ways I think the better option is using main flash in ttl and
slave one in AUTO.

Emilio, that's what I am asking about :) But of course with ND filters
I mean using TWO flashes in ttl multiflash, one with no ND, the other
with ND filter. The Metz brochure on the ND filters for their flashes
seems to say (If I understand the German correctly) that you can get
sort of "contrast control" effect by using ND filter on one of the
two flashes only (which, in a way, makes sense). But I am not sure of
it.

Also, contrast control works only with one flash and the RTF, no?

good light,
 Frantisek
