I have a pair of binoculars and I now have FIVE K mount lenses (three are
Pentax).
In a nutshell, if possible, why are the binoculars so much brighter than my
lenses?

Perhaps travelers can start express-mailing themselves their
film to and from their destinations. And maybe even their

responsible if it gets lost or stolen...

What do you think if the next terrorist has steel shoe laces?

Believe it or not...

Some years ago I saw a documentary movie about Nostradamus: one
of the prophecies (at least the interpretation of the prophecy)
stated that around the end of the XX century a "NEW" city should
have been destroyed by a man with a turban (or a similar
headgear)...

I still recall it since I live near Naples, in Italian Napoli,
from the greek Neapolis which in fact means "new city"...

Now I'm afraid that the city he was talking about was another.

There is a program to manage profiles with different accounts (Start-Programs-Netscape

Hi, yesterday I was with a lab guy, and he told me that they were offering him to scan
a photo and make a negative.
I didn't think about slides at that time, but I supposed that if you have a digital
image and can "print" it in a negative, you can do it in slide film.
I don't have a technical explanation of how you do this, but he showed me a
restoration of an old photo, the original and the negative of the restored photo.
He told that they print the scanned and retouched image in the film of your choice.
We are talking of very expensive machines, IMO. Perhaps you guys in US have more
information about this.

Hi Issac ...

Boy, do i disagree with you.

Where/how did you arrive at that figure? Was a survey made of
this? Had you said many, most, a great percentage, or something
similar, I'd not quibble. But with a specific figure which shows an
overwhelming majority don't know AND don't care, I'd have to take
issue and ask more more details.

> Think about it, do you know every detail of every activity you engage in?

Not every detail, but enough information about every activity so
that I'm knowledgeable about the important things, the significant
things.

> An IT person might think you're nuts for not

I know that for both my computers.

> a car enthusiast would think you're stupid for
> not knowing what brand and type of oil Jiffy Lube put into your car,

While I don't use Jiffy Lube, I know exactly what brand, weight, and
type of oil goes into my cars.

> an editor might think you're uneducated for not appreciating
> the typeface in the book you're reading, etc...

While I do appreciate the typeface in the books I read, along with
the differences in paper and binding, those issues don't make a
difference in terms of what I may glean from a book, just the
appreciation of reading it from an artistic and tactile POV.

In fact, none of the examples you cite matter much, if at all, in
terms of the user being able to properly use and enjoy his
equipment.

Yes, if the market segment is the one that caters to the lowest
common denominator and, perhaps, to sales people who are too lazy or
ignorant to properly explain film speed to their customers. This is
EXACTLY what dumbing down is all about.

Re: Film rewind with memory (WAS: Photo Expo Japan 2001 - MZ-S and FA31Ltd)

2001-04-10 Thread Martin Corro

Ok, Peter, I didnt want to push you to use this method. I thought that it
was easier and economic than having something making holes or burning the
film.

The approach to write the number of roll instead of the frame, works better
if you use 18 frames of a roll and 20 days pass until your next shooting
session. You can also loose the notebook paper where you wrote down the
frame numbers. You don't have to remember nothing. You take the roll and
look at the number wrote in the canister. You dial that memory and the
camera goes automatically to the appropiate frame.

The reset function works when you want to develop the roll in the middle of
it and use the memory for another roll.

Martin

Re: Film rewind with memory (WAS: Photo Expo Japan 2001 - MZ-S and FA31Ltd)

2001-04-09 Thread Martin Corro

Another approach would be to have say n memories where the camera would
store the number of frames already shot for n rolls. All you have to do is
write down in the roll what memory goes with that roll.
Example
Memory #1: 23 frames shot
Memory #2: 8 frames shot
..
Memory #n: 15 frames shot

When you change the roll you dial the number of the corresponding memory,
and voila, the camera winds to that frame plus 1.

What do you think?

You got me there. Anyway, the idea was pretty silly to start with. Its
equally simple to dial in frame number (like Minolta and apparently the MZ-S
works) as roll number. With this frame number system you can switch between
as many roll as you like.

"The MZ-S do number every roll of film up to 200 and then start at one

need to know is how many frame is shot on each roll. This doesn't need to
take much memory (it could eg. discard all rolls that have shot 36 frames).
"

My question:
But what happens to the 12 or 24 frames rolls?? Does the camera know how to
diferentiate each one (12, 24 or 36 frames)?

Ok, here I go again. There is a file in c:\windows named USER.ACL. This file

Re: IF button on PZ-1p

Tiger, go to the page 46 of the manual. It returns the camera to the Hyper
Programmed AE Mode.
If you are in Hyper Manual, depresing IF gives you the correct exposure.

Re: Spotmatic batteries

2001-01-23 Thread Martin Corro

Hi, Wieland. I also have a SP500 and the same problem with the batteries for
it.
I don't know if there is a replace for the mercuric oxide that use for them.
I'm not using the camera now, but I used to buy Varta V400PX 1.35 V (made in
Germany) and the Energizer E400N 1.3 V (made in USA).
Maybe someone can point if a similar battery with the same voltage would
work.
Hope this helps
