Re: seek comment on SMC K 45-125 f4

2002-09-05 Thread leesyf

Ho do it compared with A 70-210 f4 or A 35-105 f3.5.

***

A great zoom, good contrast and definition at full aperture (a rare
occurence) and very good to excellent thereafter. This is from a
test in Camerart (a japanese magazine published in english). I think
some PDMLers could mention the results of a Modern Photography test
also. The lens is a bit front heavy and is better handled on a K
body or, better still, on an M body + winder (or later badies with a
grip.

They usually sell for $100-150 on eBay, a real bargain for such a
lens. I haven't tested this portrait lens yet for bokeh and flare.
Maybe some other PDMLer have done this. The third distance scale
found on most of them is for use with an unavailable close-up lens.

FA 135/2.8 vs FA 100/3.5

2002-09-04 Thread leesyf

I may choose one of them for travelling purpose because they fit my budget.
I know 135/2.8 is the winner in terms of built quality. But which one is
better in optical performance? Please advise.

SMC Reflex Zoom

2002-02-24 Thread leesyf

I have just read an article for the introduction of a super rare SMC Reflex
Zoom 600-800mm. The photo samples shows that it seems to be an excellent
lens for flower photo. Any list member owns this lens? Is it the only
reflex zoom in the world?

Hi

I had the Z1P, K 28/3.5 and F 50/1.4 in my walk around trip in UK several
months ago (Scotland and England).

favorite non-Pentax K mount lens?

Hi

What is your favorite non-Pentax K mount lens? I vote for Sears 135/2.8
with macro.

Re: Jupitar-9 2/85mm lens

2002-01-14 Thread leesyf

I have recently taken some photos by this lens (mostly at f/8). It is a
latest MC version and give a sharp image (in my personal view). But I don't
know whether it is little soft at wider aperture (it would be right if you
compare it with some highly regarded 85mm lens). I think it may be a good
choice because of the cheap price in ebay. I bought one after seeing some
photo samples on the web. I could give you the photos if you wish. Please
give me an email off-list.

 **

Does anyone have any first-hand knowledge of this lens?  I have heard
that it is a little soft, but for my purposes (portrait) soft isn't
  necessarily bad.

Money refund

2001-04-17 Thread leesyf

Recently, I have ordered a used Pentax SMC F (not FA) 50/1.7 for US$75
because the seller said it is in like new condition. But when I received
and inspected it, I found there are some minor scratches on the rear lens
surface. After I 'reported' the real condition of lens to the seller, he
said I could return the lens for money refund or I could keep it if I
accept his partial refund (only $10).

This is my first time to buy used lens. Please give me any suggestion.

FA 50mm f/1.4 vs. 50mm f/1.7

2001-01-28 Thread leesyf

Dear all

I propose to buy a 50mm lens for general purpose. Would you give me any
opinion on the f/1.4 and f/1.7 lens?

In reality, I seldom use the aperture larger than f/2.0. So the f/1.4 and
f/1.7 have no difference for me. Rather, I wish to choose an optically good
lens.

Hi

Would you please tell me how to remove the tightly attached dirt without
affecting the coating on FA lens surface?

Thanks!
