Re: Always at the ready - OT
Thank you so much, Frank, for your warm words. Perhaps you are right, I need to be a little more lighthearted. I think my P30t with 50/1.4 (or 28/2.8 ?) could take place in my bag ... BTW I have never had a pancake for my MX (before it went to my cousin) and I think it is quite overprized on ebay, so am waiting for a good occasion to assemble it - just for fun. Talking about 40mm-lenses: I noticed that Voigtlaender brings out a 40mm/2.0 Heliar, for PK, too. Look at http://www.voigtlaender.de/voigtlaender.nsf/pages/frameset?Open I am looking forward to the first reviews. I just scrolled through several answers of this thread in my digest-mails. I am surprised at so many girls/guys using non-pentax cameras. Pentax equipment seems to be not too much useful for briefcase or pocket (except MX, ME ... with 40/2.8 pancake). No recommendation for handy Pentax viewfinder cameras? Personally I don't have a camera with on way to work. I walk to the station, mount into the train, arrive, walk to the headquarters ... and the same every day, and mostly see the same people. Somewhat annoying, no camera needed up to now. Regards Bernd - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List. To unsubscribe, go to http://www.pdml.net and follow the directions. Re: Always at the ready - OT
Several years ago, I prevailed on a Tri-Met bus driver to stop on a freeway overpass to allow me to take a beautiful sihouette shot of Mt. Hood at dawn. (Ilive in Portland, OR). I was grateful for the driver to stopping and allowing me to shoot the pic using an ES II camera (which was new then). Nowadays I carry a Yashica T-4 or a Olympus Stylus Epic because it is a lot lighter and smaller than the Pentax ES II. Jim A. Like Rob Studdert, I work mainly from home, but on my daily outing to collect the mail I will usually carry a camera - sometimes the MZ-S, sometimes the MZ-5, just recently the newly-acquired Spotty. With the AF cameras, I will have either the 28-105 or the 18-35 zooms attached - with the SP, the 50/1.4 (which is BTW, a fantastically good lens even today). Going out evenings and week-ends, it's rare for me not to throw the bag with just about everything in it in the boot, and to have at least one camera with me in the car. And no, I've never had that once-in-a-lifetime opportunity come up when I've had a camera with me either! I forgot to give the specifics. I usually carry a Ricoh GR1 loaded with Superia 400. It's a nice pocketable camera with a very sharp 28mm f/2.8 lens. On the digital side, I have a little Fuji DX10 that gives nice, sharp 1024 X 768 pictures that print very good at 4 X 6 inches. The Fuji is close to the same size as a GR1. I have a little, very portable, HP Photosmart 100 printer that produces great 4 X 6 prints without need of a computer. Sometimes I carry the printer along with me, too. The only drawback is that the printer requires a nearby electrical outlet to run it. Len --- - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List. I use to carry my camera bag containing two SLR bodies, and three lenses, viz., 35-80 f/4-5.6, 100-300 f/4.5-5.6 and 24 f/2.8, a polarizer, red, yellow, green, orange filters. I'm now retired, but when running errands etc. around town, I don't take chances with my Pentax gear. I usually stick the Agat 18K half frame in a pocket (it's about the size of a pack of cigarettes), or, if I feel really adventurous, I throw the Zenit 312M (M42 screw mount) in the truck. I do the same as Tom; Stylus Epic in my pocket. It's usually loaded with some kind of 400 color print. It's fast, durable and reliable and I bought it especially for this purpose. I actually wanted a Rollei Prego Micron, but at over twice the price I couldn't justify it for an emergency camera. If I am going somewhere for non-photographic reasons but want a camera just in case I take my Super Program with a 35-105/3.5A attached to it and a faster prime in my pocket. BTW, does anyone know of an ever-ready type case that will fit the SP/35-105 combo? Stylus Epic with Supra 400 is *always* in my bag. Although I don't use it that often, this is truly an unbeatable just in case camera. And on the weekends it's usually MX with pancake lens. Which gets augmented with M135/3.5 and 24/2.8 and gets into a Domke satchel, together with a table top bogen tripod, if I actually do expect to take any pictures g Mishka Sign up for SBC Yahoo!
