The energizers won't last as long. They're not designed to. But if you put both
in a flash and used it continuously until dead, you'd find the energizers (or
most any conventional Nimh battery) would recharge the flash faster and deliver
more flashes before dying than the eneloops. Leave the flash on your dresser,
and the eneloops will outlast the energizers by a wide margin.

Battery meters run off a voltage reading for batteries not equipped
with electronics. Setting the voltage levels that correspond to
near-empty and empty is arbitrary and also depends on the draw of the
device. Since NiMH's and Lithium disposables have different maximum
voltages and discharge curves than the Alkaline AA's which most such
meter's are calibrated for there can be some extreme variation in
actual vs reported battery charge.

from this datum, the Mighty Mouse must be quite inefficient (perhaps
it's the nature of Bluetooth); as i noted before i get months of service
from one charge with my Logitech vx Nano (which uses its own wireless
system instead of Bluetooth)

what's more amazing is that the Mighty Mouse uses two AAs, where the
Nano uses two AAAs

The internal resistance of Eneloop AA cells is generally as good as if
not a bit better than regular NiMH cells so the recharge rate should
be similar though potentially the number of flashes per charge may be
lower.

In practice, I've found the recharge time to be longer with the eneloops.
However, that being said, I have some excellent NIMH cells that I use with my
flashes. They definitely outperform the energizers that I once used, so they
may not be typical. I think the brand name is Nuvo, but I'm not sure. (I'd have
to go look, and Im feeling a bit under the weather.:-). I got them from a
place that deals only in batteries. It's called battery central, a local shop
with knowledgable personnel and a wide range of battery choices.
