Fairly standard behaviour. I accidentally bumped the file numbering on
my D300 by 2000 frames this way.

Re: Re: Funny numbers

2008-08-01 Thread Dario Bonazza
Hi Jens,

You don't need to stick to

1 - Uncheck the checkbox in "File No." in "Memory" submenu of "Capture"
menu.
2 - Format a card (so that there are no pictures in it for sure)
3 - Take a shot (that will be numbered IMGP0001, or something like thet)
4 - Check the checkbox in "File No." in "Memory" submenu of "Capture" menu.

You've then reset file numbering to 001.

In step 2 above, should you then put any picture file into the card (e.g.
IMGP4046.PEF), the next picture will get the next number (e.g.
IMGP4047.PEF). So, put a picture file with a number of your choice for
resetting the camera to any number you feel comfortable with (eg. the actual
number of pictures you've shot with the K20D). BTW, that's what you already
did unintentionally when leaving the K10D pictures in the card and you can
do it again for fixing the file numbering.

Ciao,

Dario

Hello avid and Dario
Thanks - I guess I should have known. Now I have to do a little math every
time I want to know how many frames my camera took.
Well, I guess I'll have a new camera long before it's worn out. These
cameras will last for several hundred thousinds exposures, I guess.
My *ist D didn't even reach 100,000 frames before I got the K10D. However, I
have done appr. 4000 shots in less than one week now, with the K20D. That
may ammount to 200,000 in one year!

Hello Jens,

I understand that's the standard behaviour for any camera (K20D or other)
recognizing one or more pictures already on the card. Numbering will go
ahead from the existing figures.

Re: Funny numbers

2008-08-01 Thread David J Brooks
I think if you had of formated the card in the K20, you would have
started at 001.

The camera picks up the last number used, although you can turn that
off in the menus, and always start at 001.

Funny numbers

2008-08-01 Thread Jens
Hello list.

As I started using my new K20D (man, is that nice), I put in a SD card
containing images made with my K10D.

I soon discovered that the K20D started numbering the files, using the first
available number, e.i. 6763, which was one higher than the latest K10D image.
So, the K20D never started with number 0001. Strange, isn't it??

Regards
