Godox tt350p (actually Flashpoint R2 Mini, but hey...)

2020-06-03 Thread P. J. Alling
I just received my new P-TTL capable flash and I'm quite impressed.
It's a very nice flash.

I tested it out with both the K-3 which it's supposed to work with, and
the K-5II which isn't guaranteed, and they seem work fine.  I'll have
more to report later.

For the enjoyment of the group I did pay retail, but then again, someone
has to do it.  On the plus side to get a flash this capable with P-TTL,
I think I'd have to spend at least $300 US exclusive of batteries.

2016-06-23 Thread Igor PDML-StR

Nicole,

To my taste, looking at this, original image, I'd say that I'd prefer to
have more space at the top.

His/her ear is partially cut off.
So, ideally, with this pose, I'd probably add at the top about as much as
there space between the belly and the bottom of the photo, or just a bit
less. Something similar to how much you have at the top above the ears in

NAJ58415 or NAJ58403
And I'd consider trimming just a notch on the left side.
Alternatively, I'd see how it looks in a square format (still with that
space at the top added).

I didn't have time yesterday to be more detailed on the other images.
I liked the "through-the-grass" images, such as 58258.

Igor

PS. I just looked at the "photostream". Enjoyed some sunset images from
there. This image was especially intriguing:

Indeed, at first I thought it would be rather useless becouse you miss the
actual review
of your image contants. (most of the screen is info, with just a tiny thumbnail
of the image)

However, zooming in, to see detail still works, and I have that set to display
at 100% (8.3x)
to jusge focusing mainly. And you can quickly zoom out with the rear wheel too
...

So I may actually start using this, until Pentax makes a firmware change to
alow getting
to that real status screen with INFO button by default :)

What I like about the settings pane is that everything is instantly
adjustable by navigating around it. With luck, Pentax will do something
smart like make is possible to set that page as the default page when
the info button is pressed

I often find that the accuracy of my O-GPS1 to be measured in feet. It's mind
boggling really.

Then again, sometimes the error is measured in miles.

I've found that an overcast sky can completely flummox the GPS in my phone.

There are some places on/around GFM (particularly on the northern
side) where even my latest GPS loses enough satellites to give no
positioning data at all (I think GPS requires 4 or 3 satellites,
minimum). There's a very winding section of the Profile Trail where my
GPS track just shows an arrow-straight line between where it dropped
signal and where it recovered it.

I find the position information in my Droid 3 (or my wife's Galaxy SIII)
to be far superior to the Garmin Nuvi we had four or five years ago. I
don't know how much of that is from the GPS, and how much comes from

I'd be more concerned with accuracy than ruggedness. I've charted my
photo locations at Grandfather Mountain over the years, upgrading GPS
receivers along the way: The number of channels, WAAS capability, etc.
have improved with each iteration. I record my coordinates in UTM
format, so it's been easy to see the big improvement in accuracy along
the way (some of the measurements I made with my first unit would vary
by over 100 meters the next time I visited the same spot); the time
required to initially lock on to satellites and to stabilize at a
specific location has been drastically reduced.

Of course, this is moot if your GPS gives you the accuracy you *need*.
At GFM a 10 meter discrepency can be the difference between getting a
nice view or no view at all or plunging off a cliff to your death. If
you just need to know that a shot was taken in Lexington, Kentucky or
Portland, Maine I'd think any GPS would do ;-)

If it location was automagically in the EXIF that would be cool, but I

I would love to have the K-5 focus better in low light. I need for the
autofocus area to be more precise. I lost a lot of photos because of either
poor focus, or because the camera focused on something that I thought was way
out of the focus selection area.

I actually used my pop-up flash a couple of times this weekend for fill. And,
frankly, had better luck with it than I did with the AF540.

Only 20MP on a full frame size sensor seems rather low resolution. I,
for one, will be very interested to see what a 6D image cropped to the
K-5/K-5ii/K-5iis pixel dimensions (particularly at comparable high
ISOs) looks like compared to the IQ of the aforementioned Pentax

You can probably check your email on it, but it's a Canon so it will
automatically delete all PDML mail.

Only 20MP on a full frame size sensor seems rather low resolution. I,
for one, will be very interested to see what a 6D image cropped to the
K-5/K-5ii/K-5iis pixel dimensions (particularly at comparable high
ISOs) looks like compared to the IQ of the aforementioned Pentax
cameras.

It's always great to see an athlete have a moment like that,
especially after surgery. OTOH, it's always fun to watch the tension
mount as it gets closer. Pierzynski (the catcher) talked about making
that last throw to first and "not screwing it up".

How wonderful for him, The Sox and their fans.

21 years ago I turned on the TV in the third inning of Dennis Martinez' perfect
game for the Expos (my poor, dearly departed Expos!). It's a wonderful thing to
experience live, even if only as a television spectator. To be part of the last
two thirds of that game was an amazing, nailbiting, once in a lifetime thing -
since my Expos are now gone and I have no favourite baseball team anymore (and
have sworn to myself that I never will; an Expos fan til the day I die).

For El Presidente it was the first perfect fame for a Latin American pitcher
and it remains the only perfect game by a Canadian team (the Jays have never
pitched one, only been on the receiving end).

As for Humber, yesterday was his first complete game! Amazing.

Congrats to him and all White Sox fans everywhere.

Cheers,
frank

Cutler did quite well, considering.

Yep, considering all the scrambling he did. Quite alot of improv on his

2010-10-29 Thread Tanya Love
Hey guys and gals,

So sorry, for not replying to this before now I have been ridiculously busy,
and its not getting any better! Lol. I am completely swamped. I actually
kept October/November free of bookings as I have two week long interstate
trips planned and they have been my busiest yet for this year! Crazy times!

Ok, so they are yet to forward me a copy of the artwork on the bus, so no
idea how it turned out, however, you can see a fair bit of my stuff from
that shoot/collection here: www.agoo4u.com, and www.leghuggers.com . For
those who asked - they are Canadian based but have a whole lot of stockists
worldwide and market heavily in the US, Singapore and Australia. All of the
stuff on their home page is mine, as well as all of the photos in the
banners at the top of each of their product pages. Some of the skin tones
are shite on account of their idiotic graphic department mucking up my
post-production but hey, you can't win them all I guess. :) The very dodgy
looking flat lay/product shots are NOT mine (and fwiw, neither are the
spelling mistakes)!

Anyways, thanks for all of your awesome comments! Oh, and if you go to
www.leghuggers.com , not only is every shot on that home page mine, they
are all my kids too! :)
