Yes Brian, mine still works as it's supposed to, but I stick to the "mostly useless" statement! With any other MF lens, it's an ME Super with focus confirmation so still handy. I'm surprised that Pentax never made a MF version of that lens. I wonder where they got the optics from? I have a working black P30 too. I would probably still shoot some film if there was a local photo lab still in operation. They used to develop & digitise a 24exp. film for about $10. If I shot film now I would either have to drive 200km to take advantage of their 2hour service or send the films off by post. I really wouldn't bother to have old film cameras serviced any more. Thank goodness for digital. Just to join the theme, I have both an ME Super and an Super Program. Tried the ME just to confirm the battery is dead. Haven't tried the Program, in fact I bought it used years ago along with an attached M-50mm F2 lens. I, honestly don't believe I ever put a roll of film through it. There are quite a few techs that can still do a CLA on the mechanical parts. If any of the electronics are bad you're kind of out of luck. Unfortunately the only one I've used recently is in Tenn. and you being in SA could probably buy a working ME Super for less than the shipping charges. I have 3 ME Supers. (One bought new & the other two from a job lot I bought). One still works perfectly, one doesn't fire occasionally & the third fires only intermittently. From what I have read, a CLA (Clean, Lube & Adjust) service is necessary. Are there still techs who can do that? Apparently the grease on the many levers & pivots hardens with time, causing the problem. I tried leaving them in the sun which helped for a while but the problem recurred after a couple of hours.
