Re:

Thanks to all who commented.

I can't really take credit for the colours or the sharpness - Olympus
(and whoever makes the sensor) deserve most of the praise for that.

My contribution was deciding where to point the camera, and picking
a small enough aperture to get at least some amount of depth of field
on the flower close-ups - the camera took care of the rest.

It's a learning experience for me - switching to u4/3 from the APS-C
sensor of the K5 (and the different aspect ratio of the two systems)
is interesting (and occasionally challenging), but definitely fun.

Things I have learned so far:

o I still prefer a viewfinder, but having a rear screen is good.
Having one than can be flipped out, rotated, etc. is even better.

o The Olympus shutter release is hair-trigger sensitive!

o The auto-focus is lightning fast (and accurate). That's good,
because having a smaller sensor affects the depth of field.

I've not as yet got anywhere near pushing the new camera to its limits;
it supposedly offers significantly better Image Stabilisation (SR),
and has an AI-based focus tracking mode that understands motorsports.
But at the moment I'm concentrating on getting to know where all the
controls are (there are buttons all over the body, and almost all of
them can be re-programmed to do something other than their default).
I've got used to the Pentax control layout - I haven't owned any other
brand of SLR since I purchased my Spotmatic II (50 years ago!)

The user interface is atrocious. That is not a condemnation of u4/3 in

The form factor, particularly without the evf, is very tough to hole in

I bought one for my wife (with the 14-42 and 40-150 lenses) back in 2010,

Somewhere around here I've got the adapter I bought to use my Pentax 50mm

I have a well worn 6x7 that I still dust off now and then. The 67 was
very similar to the 6x7and incorporated several updates made to the 6x7
over the years - sorta like 6x7 SP1. The 67II was more or less a new
camera, though it used the same lens mount. The manuals for the 6x7 and
descendants are available at pentax67.net - there are instructions on
how to cock the shutter without film. It does need a battery to fire, IIRC.

Have fun!

The shutter won't function without film. There's a lever of some sort in there
that is moved when film is loaded. You can manually depress it to get the
shutter to fire. Plenty of documentation for this on the web. Unfortunately I
sold all my 6x7 lenses long ago. If it's truly a 67 rather than a 6x7, it's a
premium piece.

Yep - using the wifi bacpac (I have a Hero 2) I get a 3 second delay -
or lag - from the camera to the iPhone app display. If I hard wire a
monitor to the camera there is no lag at all. The problem is that 99.9%
of the time I cannot link the camera to a display and so I live with the
lag. That said, I only view the iPhone app display of the camera's
output while setting up the framing for the shot before locking off the
camera mount prior to filming. The most usual situation for this would
be mounting inside a car to get a shot of the front seat occupant(s).

Thanks anyway.

Yep fully understand - I have a similar app for the GoPro, but the
'live' view on the app is actually delayed by about 3 seconds. Do you
have a delayed view onto the phone from the camera's output?

The delay seems to be about as long as the delay on my Fuji X-T1
viewfinder (in other words, no appreciable delay). The machine can be
flown by using the camera output to the screen, which is especially
useful for dialing in composition.
There is quite a pause when taking a still picture as the entire system
shuts down while the image is being written, so nothing is visible for
several seconds. I presume the camera doesn't actually have a buffer.

This one isn't big enough for a DSLR. It's equipped with it's own camera

You got it in one Igor.

But it has those "safety" (?) arches under the propellers.
So, I am confused if it is just an add-on, or I mixed it up, and it is a
completely different quadcopter?

I put the the prop guards on to protect the machine if I bump into
something with it.

Please, report back on your experience after the first week or two, I am
curious 1) how you settled on this model

The DJI's are pretty much the most user friendly machines out there
right now. Very simple to fly and they have all sorts of fail safes on
them to keep the pilot out of trouble. The Vision 2 plus is a sideways
version of the Vision 2, in that it comes with the camera built in
rather than having to add it to the machine (which would be a Gopro
Black right now). I did a lot of checking around and the concesus was
that the DJI camera and the Gopro are of very similar imaging quality,
but by the time I got the Vision 2 outfitted I would have spent several
hundred dollars more than I did.
The machine I bought uses a smart phone as the camera controller rather
than having to buy a dedicated screen for first person view (seeing what
the camera sees in real time).

From what I read, the Vision 2 Plus is the lowest cost machine capable
of giving "professional" results. The camera is 14mp/ 1080px60fps video,
and seems to do good video. It's mounted to a three axis gimbal, so the
machine can be pitching around quite a bit and maintain smooth video.

and

2) what's your first week's experience (regrets, etc.)

I've only done a few flights so far, I won't bore anyone with the videos
(well, unless asked), but so far, I'm very happy with it. The only
frustration with it, and I fully understand why DJI has done what they
did with the software is that it doesn't fly very far when close to an
airport. I live about 3lm from our local aerodrome, and in the school
ground a couple of blocks from where I live, I can fly to a fifty foot
altitude and 50 feet from the launch point. It's like it runs into a
wall when it hits the limit.
Having read a few very scary stories of quad copters being used badly,
I'm not unhappy with the compromise, I do feel it is a bit more limiting
than it needs to be though..

It practically flies itself. It has both a compass and GPS built into
it, so it always knows where it is and what it's direction of travel is.
It will even fly back to it's launch point and land by itself if it
loses contact with the control station.

Hello Godfrey, congratulations for the 600mm Sigma Mirror Lens. I too
have one but in f 8.
I can use it on my K-5 in bright sunlight. Do use it with the clear
glass filter at the rear as
it tends to make the image a bit sharper.
Mine came for CAD 75 from a Toronto Star Gazer Professor in M42 Mount
with an Original
Pentax Japan K Converter- in Mint condition with the Hood.
Light and easy to hand hold but as you said a Tripod would be better.
I jack up the Saturation, Contrast and Sharpness in Bright mode on my
K-5 when using this
lens.
But I did not know there was a fast f 6 variant of this lens like yours??
Have fun with your toy.

adapters to fit it to both A7 and E-M1. So I stuck it on the E-M1 for a few
hand held test shots last evening. It's amazing how efficient that camera's
IBIS is... A couple of nice, shake free test shots with an effective 1200mm FoV
at 1/300-1/400 second. Of course it will work best on a tripod.

The lens is light, focuses smoothly, and handles easily. It's a little lacking
in contrast like most Mirror lenses, but that's easily accommodated in
Lightroom. Seems reasonably sharp too, but I'll leave judgement on that to when
I use a proper tripod.

Should be fun! For $90, cheap fun! :-)

Thanks for the clarification, John.

From what I gather, the reissue humbuckers are just a tad warmer than
the original WRHB. Still, based on what I've heard in the demos, they
come pretty close.

And, based on what I've heard in demo videos, it retains a surprising

the warmer, throatier sound than you'd get with the standard Tele

What kind of amp are you playing through?

I've just got a little 30-watt Behringer practice amp with digital

Fender had a bit of a spate of humbuckers in the early 70s. The Deluxe
also had them from '72. Here's mine, an original '73 model with the
Marshall custom shop '67 Bluesbreaker amp that I won in the local
hospice raffle:

You're right, the humbuckers still produce the Tele twang in the
middle selector position and the thinline hollow body adds a bit of
acoustic resonance as well. I think you'll enjoy it!

Martin Evening's books for Ps and Lr are exemplary. The companion
workbooks with Jeff Schewe add even more value.

Yup! Grad filter is kick-ass. Your alteration is good.

For even more fun try two grad filters: one from the horizon up and
the other from the horizon down. In the upward one add a blue tinted
filter to deepen the sky. Lower one will have +exposure in this case
to brighten the foreground.
