Re: OT: Photoshop Question

2007-09-14 Thread Mark Cassino
If I recall corectly, you just have to stick the CD
you are upgrading from into the drive, or enter the
serial number for the last verion. I bought PS 7 and
use that CD for all upgrades so far.

THe laptop sounds nice - I bought a similar Toshiba
six months ago. It's great, but not as fast as my
older Athlon X64 dual core system with Raptor drives.
I think the drive speed makes a big different, as does
the memory (the desktop has 3 gigs vs 2.)

Since my last laptop was a Pentium I 166mhz with 144
megs of ram - I really like the new machine!

You shouldn't need the CDs, just the serial number from CS2 if you're

OT: Photoshop Question

2007-09-13 Thread John Sessoms
I bought a new laptop and I'm upgrading to CS3. I checked Adobe's site
and license allows me to have PhotoshopCS3 on both my desktop and my
laptop as long as I don't use both at the same time.

My question is this - Am I going to have to install CS, then the CS2
upgrade on the laptop BEFORE I can install the CS3 upgrade, or will it
allow me to just install CS3 directly and pass it the activation keys
for the previous versions?

Couldn't pass up the laptop.

It's a Toshiba Satellite - 1.73GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB RAM, 280GB
SATA drive, Dual-Layer DVD +/-RW with Labelflash (??), 4 USB, 1
Firewire, modem, LAN, Wireless LAN, Nvidia GeForce Go7300 and a built in
memory card reader that will handle SDHC ... all for less than a grand.

It's got more goodies than the desktop I custom built to run Photoshop,
and it cost me less than I spent building that desktop two years ago.

OT Photoshop question

2007-03-28 Thread David J Brooks
Sorry to ask this again gang, as i know i have done so last year, but,
What is the procedure to make an out line of an object.

I didi this last year for the camera out line for the GFM hats, and
now want to do same for a guitar outline.
I have downloaded a generic picture of an acustic guitar, and i know i
need to select all, then inverse and pick stroke. I set it at 3 pix,
but when i went to delete the coloured image nothing happens.

What step am i missing.

I think it was one of the Oz members that guided me through this last year.

Go into "color settings" and select "colour management off" then see if the

Sounds like she is applying the profile twice (or should I say, Photoshop
is)
I'm not at a compter with photoshop on it at the moment so can't remember
the corerct names and menus but it's something like:
When printing choose source "as document" or something and don't choose the
paper profile in photoshop if you are choosing it in the printer properties.

clearer

OT: photoshop question

2004-07-16 Thread Tom Reese
My SO is having a problem with Photoshop CS that she can't solve. I poked
around in there a little to try to solve it but after 20 yrs of dealing with
lousy software, hardware and bugs my frustration tolerance with computers is
so low that I had to quit.

Her problem is that after she makes her adjustments to the image and clicks
the print button Photoshop adds a strong purple cast to the image. This cast
shows up in print preview as well as in the actual prints. She can save the
image to disk with Photoshop and the image looks and prints normally using
any other software. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Just set the aspect ratio in the menu bar, both for the crop
tool and the marquee tool.
If you plan to crop a lot using that aspect ratio, you can
create a preset shape/ratio/size for the tool.

If you need specifics on how to do this, i.e., if you can't
figure it out yourself or find the info in the PS help
section, drop me a line off list. PS can be a bit daunting
at first, especially with simple things that are not
obvious.

OT: Photoshop question

2004-04-02 Thread keller.schaefer
I have a question regarding Photoshop - I hope it is not too silly...

If I want to crop an image but wish to retain a (or arrive at a) certain aspect
ratio - how can I do this? If I select a frame to crop to, I will most
certainly change the aspect ratio a little bit (even if I try not to) which
will then lead to prints of slightly different size.

Don't shout, if the answer is all to obvious, just laugh at me...

Thanks,

Sven

Three keystrokes on a Mac. I wondered if there was an easier way, maybe
even a hack to print the File Browser window itself

whic version of PS? the CS version allows Contact Sheet II direct from File
Browser and you have your choice of all images or only selected images. PS 7
doesn't allow it and you have to use File|Automate.

On a Windows machine, you could do a snapshot of the screen and paste
that into a new canvas.
I don't know if you can do that with those other machines though.

Or (in Windows) you can just go Start > Run and type "charmap" and
you'll get it. Just remember to make sure you're selecting the font
you're using in your photo editing program or else you might end up with
another character. :)

In any Windows program, you can get the copyright symbol using the
numeric (ten-key) keypad.

1) Set "NUM LOCK" on
2) Press one of the "ALT" keys and hold it down
3) Type "0169" on the numeric keypad
4) Release the "ALT" key

Other special characters are available the same way, but I don't
remember the codes. You can also start the "Character Map" program
that's in Start | Programs | Accessories folder, or the System Tools
subfolder of that one. It shows the characters graphically, and you
can copy them to the clipboard from Character Map, then paste them into
the other program by pressing Shift-Ins or Ctrl-V.

In photo deluxe 4.0 you can get the © from a word processor and cut and paste
it into
the pull down Text box. then put it in your image.
(In my version of word, the program auto-corrects (c) to ©)
