OT: falling in love again

2011-08-24 Thread Paul Stenquist
Drove a 444 horsepower boss 302 Mustang today with the Laguna Seca package
(which firms up the suspension to mate nicely with some race worthy tires,
deletes the back seat. and adds some structural bracing). The six-speed manual
has a shifter to die for and the Brembo brakes could stop a freight train.
Maybe I should sell my Chevy?

Come now, Paul. At your age, you surely know the difference between
love and LUST.
: )

Somewhat related: Couple of weeks ago, I shot a video for my boss of a
1969 Mach 1 Cobrajet that was found in a Greeley, CO barn with 65,000
miles on it. Mickey Thompson tires and Apollo wheels. It was like
sitting in a time capsule.

A well executed video -- and a nice car.

Well, the 302 is one of the easiest engines, along with the Chevy 305
and 350, and the Dodge 306? and 360, to build power in cheaply. :-)
Newer engines tend to be bred closer to the limit than the older ones,
due at least in part to the CAFE standards.

The new boss 302 isn't the old windsor or cleveland small block. It's a very
streetable dohc engine with a 7500 rpm redline.

You may have seen this already, but maybe this will break your heart
enough to cause you to re-think getting rid of the Chevy. It's a 2007

Paul, your thread reminded me of my "first" love/car a 1962 Chevy
Impala SS with the 327 250 hp engine. I bought it used, less than a
year old, when I was in the Navy out in CA. The memories were too
strong. so I went out and bought one today that will look just
like the first one once I finish. Unfortunately, it will be a "garage
queen", and very small, 1/25th to be exact. Made by Revell :-)
