What he said, but I need more neck or something. Maybe. Not positive. A little less abstract on the person maybe. I mean I like the abstractness of it, but I had to look at it a bit, or more than a bit to get it was a person. I might want more character in the person, looks like they had a nice, weathered, wrinkly neck. Not sure. How's that for clear feedback? I like it. Marnie aka Doe That's better.
Re: PAW: Shattuck Avenue
Umm, how can you see the fellow's neck? It's covered with a scarf. There's more to see in the pic than the person in the foreground. Glad you like it, though ;-)) [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > >Just a little experiment on a couple of levels ... > > > >http://home.earthlink.net/~digisnaps/shattuck1.html > > > What he said, but I need more neck or something. Perhaps what I'm trying to say is too deep or abstract, perhaps I'm not trying to say anything, perhaps ... Look deep into the photograph, look at all the elements, the smallest detail ... perhaps something will strike you ... perhaps ... shel (now you've got me wondering) "Peter J. Marnie aka Doe Hehehehe. The viewer does bring themselves to the photo.

Shattuck & Allston? A block or so either side of Center Street? Both the guy and the photo lab across the street are snoozing in this shot. Pat in SF

As a "pure composition" (I don't know how better to put it), it's interesting. The shape of his dark jacket against the brighter background, heavy at the bottom of the frame, lighter at the top. As a "human" photograph, I'm not so sure. I'm guessing he's sleeping, due to the way he's slumped over, but what's he all about? What's the photo all about? It really doesn't say much to me - but maybe that's the point? I purposely typed this before going to look at the other critiques. I'll be interested to see what they said, and how you responded. I just don't know how to take this... cheers, frank "The optimist thinks this is the best of all possible worlds. The pessimist fears it is true." -J. That is my educated guess, anyway. Look at where the guy meets the brick. I could be totally wrong. But we shall see. Later, Marnie aka Doe

Re: PAW: Shattuck Avenue
You're right, it was a tight framing. The pic is uncropped. Here's where the guy is sitting, taken from across the street: http://home.earthlink.net/~digisnaps/shattuck2.jpg There are a few other shots from closer perspectives. I only wish I knew what I was doing with the digicam then. These were all med rez JPEGS. Had I known then what I know now, they'd have been large TIFFS. Oh well ;-)) shel P Kong wrote: > > Marnie wrote: > >He's not real, frank. Shel constructed him. Maybe. Hi! He's gonna miss his green bus. How blue. Boris

Hi Frank ... Wll, the pic is telling a story, but just a different one than one of social commentary. Look at the shops across the street. Notice their names ... maybe it's all to subtle ... iac, I had some fun making your brain hurt. shel frank theriault wrote: > > I don't think the experiment failed at all, Shel. > > It made me think (although now my brain hurts ). What kind of commentary regarding photo developing can one draw from this? Pat in SF

I had to look thoughtfully to get the point, but then it was really amazing. Kind of felt like I must wake up that man. Best PAW I seen so far. Attila
