The background is water with cloud reflections.
And the lens my latest grab the DA300. Its almost a 300 macro and sharp as
a knife. Also got a 77mm achromat to put in front. Some shots later

take in a week before you have to have several weeks of not taking any, so
you’d better hope for some relief from the pain before you reach the limit.

Eating the plant can cause multiple organ failure quite quickly and there is no

Jack, Malcolm, Dan and Boris,

Many thanks to you all for your comments. Much appreciated.

Dan,

the rather disorienting viewing angle. The scene was equally
disorienting for us as well since we did not expect to come across
such a spot.

Thanks, Jack.

The drooping leaf crossed behind another twig that was unattractive,
so I cropped both out. Perhaps I should have removed the entire leaf,
but I the drooping leaf balanced out the others and made a more
complete scene, to my eye. The "left edge bud stem" is actually the
start of the stem of a leaf that did not to my eye fit into the
composition well. Nature never seems to give me exactly what I would
like.

Here in Boston we've had not a flake of snow as far as I can tell. And
it was 60 degrees F today – 60 degrees in November. Weird, weird,

We've had just over 21 inches last week with sustained temperatures in
the teens (F). The last autumn leaves on the trees just froze and blew
away on the gale force winds!

Thankfully we've had a couple warm days and it is warm and raining
heavily now - most of the snow is gone though the next wave is coming
tomorrow night. I actually went out today and dug into the snow piles
from my shoveling and spread it around to melt. Bad memories of last
winter where I threw snow up to about 5 feet high and could not throw it
any higher - moving those snow piles was a PITA. Last year at this time
we had only 2.3 inches but we wound up with a total of 115+ inches.
Things are off to a much worse start this year.

But as bad as it is here its much worse up north and Buffalo NY really
go clobbered

Complicated scene. Very nice rendering. Took me a few minutes to recognize the

That shot has some special meaning to me. The wood is the stump of a
Cedar tree that was lost in Superstorm Sandy; the leaf is from the
Kwansan Cherry we planted this year to replace the 40 year old cherry
tree we lost in the last harsh winter.I had admired the wood before,
and tried to get a good image of it, with no great success. This
weekend, I was trying to get an image of the colorful leaves on the
new tree, which is just in front of the stump. It was breezy, making
it difficult to capture the leaves still on the tree. I saw this one
fall, and went over to pick it up. I liked the color, but was
bothered by the little notch along one edge. I place it on the stump,
to get it out of the wind, and suddenly the two seemed to go together
well, and the notch seemed to add a bit of additional interest, rather
than being a defect, as I had first concluded. Since the leaf was not
flat and the sun was at a low angle, there was a long shadow. I
played around with the placement of the leaf for a few minutes, and
took several images, with different angle of the leaf and the shadow.
Last night, I decided this was my favorite, and decided to post it.

Dan,
Like Cotty says, this is one of your best!
It's so simple yet so powerful.
An inspirational to go out and photograph more.
Suitable for hanging on the wall or putting in the computer Wall Paper rotation.
Great catch.
