Did a self-portrait as I don't usually so why not.

Thanks Ann. The roundish coloured glass thing is in fact a painted
rainbow made by Stefan when he was at elementary school. It's shiny
because it was laminated at some point. It was parked on the dresser

Cost was a consideration, along with a fully manual lens - with an
actual aperture ring. This is important to me as I don't like having to
control the aperture of a lens using the fingers of my right hand. That
is a left-handed thing :-) Focus and aperture - left hand. Right hand -
finger on shutter and adjacent button set for focus peaking.

I'd like to try the Oly 12mm at some point.

This view has intrigued me for quite some time.

PESO: Self Portrait, 1986

2014-09-22 Thread John

https://www.flickr.com/photos/jb_sessoms/15321790311/

Among the slides I've been scanning are a number of orphans - slides
that don't seem to be part of any set. Most likely the set they belong
to were destroyed by hurricane Fran. This one showed up in a box of old
junk I was cleaning out.

I remember this old biplane. I used to pass by the little airport where
it was based several times a week when I was doing service work for the
fire/burglar alarm company. One day the owner was out working on it I
stopped and asked if I could take some photos. He graciously allowed me
to do so.

I'm guessing 1986 based on the watch the clothes I'm wearing. The
watch is a Swiss Army Watch I bought in 1984, that I still wear today.
The company I worked for was sold to another company in 1987 they
required us to wear uniforms.

Super Program SMCP-A 50mm f/1.4 because that was the camera I carried
with me in my truck if I needed to photograph something for
documentation. That was my excuse to carry the camera along since I
was salaried it wasn't a problem for me to stop somewhere along the way
if I saw something interesting that I wanted to photograph.

Thanks Ken, Dan and whoever took a look..Joe

P.S. The shadow was done by a spotlight high up on the house near the
roof, but it was too dark, so I used the
AF-540FGZ flash on a ten foot home made sync cord which I held up
over the shadow's head (my head)
and on the flash was a coffee can home made flash softener. The flash
was shot on manual at 1/16 power.Joe

There's something about this shot that I find very compelling - it's
almost surreal. At first it looked like the young man's head was cut
off or dismembered in some way, until I looked closer to see that (it
appears that he's) having a haircut.

The blank expression on the shooter's face, the expression on the
young man's face the way he appears to be looking up at the shooter in
the mirror, the pile of books (in a barber shop?), all make me ask
what's going on, and make me wonder if there's something going on here
