BTW, if anyone knows what type of flower this is, I would love to know.

Hope you enjoy. Comments welcome.

With the K3, are they now exactly the same thing? I noted the pre-production
cameras were labelled Pentax front and rear, the production models had Ricoh
at the back. I assume therefore, you could happily enter a contest stating
either Pentax or Ricoh equipment only with a K3, and by association, the
rest of the model line up from either side.

Not that is not an issue here (great photo), but it does raise some
questions when you start putting two manufactures names on a single product.

Well, Pentax isn't a manufacturer any more - it's just a brand owned by Ricoh.

It's much the same as Panasonic putting Lumix on its cameras.

OK, but I understood that Pentax were keeping the brand name on the DSLRs.
Not having a K5 of any model, I'm fairly sure even the very last ones are
Pentax branded all over, and as I said, the first K3's (pre-release models)
were also branded Pentax all over. Someone decided that the Ricoh brand name
would now appear on the DSLRs as well. Just an observation.

It's possible that someone at Ricoh has decided that dual branding
might not be a good idea after all. 'Ricoh' doesn't appear on the
rear of the latest models (K-S1, Q-S1 and 645Z) - Just 'Pentax' on the
front.

I read somewhere that Ricoh thought that the Ricoh brand was the premium
brand for SLR's when compared with Pentax, the rest of the world thought
otherwise.

Over on Pentax forums, there were people threatening to change brands
over that. Lice High was especially disparaging about it.

If Ricoh is listening ro Ricewhine, I fear for the future of the Pentax
brand, and K mount cameras.

It's not lost on me that this is a very small and petty matter, but every
time I pick the K3 up it successfully yanks my chain and winds me up.
