If it was just a line of garbage bins it would be pretty plain. The

Re: PESO - Garbage Day

2007-01-23 Thread Rick Womer
Here in Philly, until the mid-70's, there were
separate collection days for garbage and trash. The
garbage was collected under contract by pig farmers;
the trash was collected by city sanitation trucks.

Now they're all collected together by the city, and
the elimination of garbage from pig diets has made
trichinosis disappear.

I'll be the odd man out. I don't like it. I don't know why one would find
a picture of garbage cans lined up appealing. I wouldn't like to hang it on
my wall or make it into a greeting card or a calandar photo, or desktop
background... on and on.

The one can laying over is an interesting element, but such juxtapositions
can also be found in scenes that are generally pleasing subject matter.

Sorry for coming across possibly harsh, but I don't get it.

Not harsh, but truthful. Each of us encounter images that we like,
dislike or have no feeling for. This is one of those images for you
to dislike.

For me, I saw a pattern of objects all lined up with one askew. The
perspective of the long lens helped to emphasize that.

Is it a shot that I would hang on the wall as a beautiful scenic? No.
But for me, it still is an interesting shot.

Thanks for commenting.
