Re: PESO - Sample 3
Hi Bruce, That makes sense. Yes, I always set the flash to high speed. And as with your Pentax flash, the camera won't go above 1/150th (on the D) without the flash set at high speed synch. I usually shoot at manual exposure with a 1/500th or 1/750th shutter speed. But I've never changed the flash setting on the camera. That's what confused me about your original post. I never tried setting the camera mode, so it was apparent early on that it didn't matter. I mainly use high speed for shooting birds and wildlife, once in a while for fill in bright light. Re: PESO - Sample 3
Hello Paul, The setting is on the camera by pressing the flash button. It cycles between normal, redeye reduction, wireless and wireless/HS. Are you sure you are using HS? The shutter speed needs to be higher than 1/180 sec and the Pentax flash needs to be set to the appropriate mode. Once it is set, even if you are shooting at slower speeds, it still works. So a near dark shot, would not probably need HS. With the *istD & AF360FGZ, if I set the flash to normal, the camera body will not allow a shutter speed above 1/180. If I set the flash to HS, then I can choose any shutter speed. I just tried a shot without setting anything on the body at 1/1000 sec and it worked properly. So all this time, I probably didn't need to set the body along with the flash. Oh well, the other way seemed to work. It takes getting a new camera to learn the proper way sometimes. Thanks for your comments. -- Bruce Tuesday, November 21, 2006, 3:58:16 PM, you wrote: PS> I use high speed shutter synch on my *istD all the time without PS> setting anything on the camera. Under normal circumstances, I manually focus when I can and then switch to specific sensor when I need to. Only in a few cases do I let the camera pick the sensor, but I wanted to see how well the new one worked. -- Best regards, Bruce Tuesday, November 21, 2006, 3:48:16 PM, you wrote: PS> I like the picture of the boy. I'll know by the end of the weekend. I sent my 500 DG Super to Sigma about a month ago for the upgrade that allows it to work with the 100D. I'm sure it's essential for this camera as well. I plan on trying it this weekend.
