'Tis a very personal and relative term.

That's why I provided a basis for relativity: As affordable as the FA50
f/1.4 and FA135 f/2.8. It shouldn't be impossible to produce a
well-regarded 75 to 85mm prime f/2 FA (or D-FA) lens that could sell for
around $350.

IMO rather than virtually replicating lenses they should be concentrating on
the holes huge holes in the prime line-up. The Pentax DA DFA development
roadmap indicates a potential DA Limited prime between 60-70mm, I really can't
see the point of it myself though.

As Will Robb will confirm, a 60mm on the Digis becomes a 90, a most
useful FL for portraits and general photography. The 50 in the
portrait department is as useful as the 77 was (ie little, as it is
short).

I've decided (almost) I'd buy an FA 43 lim lens. It is unlikely to find
such a beast on the used market. IIRC, it was only once offered on the
list on Fridays. So it'll have to be new one.

Is it safe to simply buy it new from Adorama or BH? I mean - I may ask
a friend traveling from US to Israel to do it for me. But I am very much
afraid that if I get a dog, I'll be stuck with it...

You don't need to. You buy it, with credit card. Your friend collects it.
They are just the delivery service. You have to trust them not to break it on

Sometimes not as fast as it could be, but very reliable, and the best care

Buy from BH or Adorama. They are great, both of them.

But -- why? I mean, why 43mm? I am just curious. There seem to be
a world of normal pentax lenses, all fantastic optically, all for a fraction
of price. 77mm and 31mm are kinda unique (31 is the fastest wide,
and 77 is pretty much the only game, since 85/1.4 seems to have
disappeared). But 43/1.9?

Best,
Mishka

Pretty reliable rumour in Japan is that it has been discontinued along with
