RE: Firmware 1.10 and M lens
I just did the upgrade. This whole process is now eerily similar to my Spottie. It does work fine, however, and it meters correctly as my 4 shot test run indicates. Very acceptable result from my POV. My only confusion is that the associated paperwork on how to use HyM still warns about a possible exposure error. p. 129 in the book essentially repeats this warning. I guess I just don't see the problem. Steven Desjardins Department of Chemistry Washington and Lee University Lexington, VA 24450 (540) 458-8873 FAX: (540) 458-8878 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: Firmware 1.10 and M lens
My guess is that this is a warning that if you change either the aperture or shutter speed, the green button needs to be pressed again. Think I'll go out and shoot some with the Vivitar S1 70-210. Hi Bill, on 09 Jan 04 you wrote in pentax.list: My guess is that this is a warning that if you change either the aperture or shutter speed, the green button needs to be pressed again. Or if the light changes or you point the camera to another direction... Cheers, Heiko

A problem that does not occur is one you don't have to worry about. Take two pictures and call me in the morning. It keeps the same shutter speed. It is as though you had set the exposure manually. It sticks until you push the button again. stan Shel Belinkoff wrote: OK, now for the $64,000 question: Once the ap and shutter speed have been set, will the camera remember them for subsequent exposures until it's reset, or does the green button routine have to be implemented for each exposure? Now THAT is really good news. Thanks, Stan. Stan Halpin wrote: It keeps the same shutter speed. It is as though you had set the exposure manually. Wow. I don't care if I have to hit the button 5 times. It now basically meters with M K lenses and I don't have to sell mine. Woo hoo. rg Shel Belinkoff wrote: OK, now for the $64,000 question: Once the ap and shutter speed have been set, will the camera remember them for subsequent exposures until it's reset, or does the green button routine have to be implemented for each exposure? Re: Firmware 1.10 and M lens
Once again, it depends on the kind of photography you do. Metering for each exposure can be a PITA for many photographers in numerous situations. Not having to press the green button every time one wanted to make an exposure, and being able to retain the last exposure info, would be important to a lot of people, myself included. But, regardless, it's great to know that the camera now has added capabilities and that K and M lens users can continue using their favorite glass regardless of shooting style. I'll certainly second your enthusiasm ... Woo Hoo Too! Robert Gonzalez wrote: Wow. I don't care if I have to hit the button 5 times. RE: Firmware 1.10 and M lens
This is great news! Pentax seems to have implemented this function in a very ingenious way: the camera automatically steps down (dof preview) for a moment to meter at the correct aperture. This is almost as good as having the full open aperture metering. This update is an example which shows that Pentax does listen to their customers after all...
