Nice series so far Christine. Gonna make a good CD when its done.

Good stuff, as usual. I worked on a building site in the summer of 1976 -
pouring concrete was my favourite job. Cleaning the cement mixer was not.

Hi Everyone:

Just 2 small galleries. I've started a blog, which gives me
a central
location for this stuff, making my life a little easier.

I shot Friday, and I really struggled. It was one of those
days where my
concentration and focus (mine not the camera's) was not the best.

Gallery from Friday's shoot.

An office worker might get a paper cut if not careful, a construction worker
will lose a couple of fingers, or worse. Be really aware of what is above
you. Things can go sideways really quickly and a couple of thousand pounds
of out of control steel isn't pretty when it hits someone from a few stories
up.

Re: GESO Construction V

2009-08-01 Thread Christine Aguila
Thanks, William! Funny thing about this shoot: when I 1st approached those
in charge about a photo story of the project, the project manager was
enthusiastic, but he warned me that construction workers don't like their
photos taken, so I best prepare myself.

Well, he was only very wrong. When I get on the site for a shoot, usually a
few construction workers find a quick minute to tell me, "You should have
been here yesterday. We did . . . ." Or workers ask to have their picture
taken with another worker. Or a worker will shout out, "The action is about
to start over there . . . ." Or I'm asked, "you got these pics on a web site
or something?"

It's been a lot of fun, but at the end of a shoot, I'm really tired after
being out in the sun with hard hat and boots and two cameras around my neck,
all the while navigating the terrain and trying to not to get in anyone's
way. I have to make sure I present myself as capable, safety aware, and
discreet, or I'll be yanked off the site real quick.

Cheers, Christine
