RE: LXist

2003-10-30 Thread Paul Ewins
Actually, no, the plural of octopus is octopuses, as octopus is a
corruption of octopod (i.e. eight feet) and isn't a proper Latin word at
all.

There are some even more tricky rules about whether a word should end in
ise or ize which have something to do with whether the original word
was derived from greek or latin.

The real question is whether 3 LXs would be a CLXXX

The plural of octopus is octopi, so would LX plural be LXi (pronounced
el-ex-ee or el-ex-eye). OK, so I'm bored and rambling.

Ah yes, the F3. The best camera I never liked when I owned one. Absolutely
reliable, tough as nails, perfect exposure accuracy, great viewfinder,
 terrible viewfinder information placement.

Slow flash sync, stupid flash shoe, bad vertical handling. Bigger and
heavier than your average medium format camera when the drive is attached.
Great action camera, but lousy with flash. I carried F3s for sports and
Super Programs for editorial assignments until I could afford an F4 and
a couple of short lenses. If I'd known back then ('95) that Pentax had
made some of the K lenses you can't get anymore I might have stuck with Pentax
a lot longer for pro use.

...runs for ever

Pity the LX isn't able to do that.
Pity the F3 uses Nikon lenses.

Pity the LX doesn't take the MD-4 motor drive. I might still be using
Pentax on the job if it did. I liked the meter and flash systems MUCH
better than the F3. The only Pentax motor drive I ever liked was the
Motor Drive A, and neither it nor the cameras which it attached to could
take the strain of heavy use. Pentax has never really believed in motor
drive in the way that Nikon and Canon do.

3 of them must be a Trinity... or a triumph. A non-specific collection
must an exposure, or glory. Or perhaps Xstasy.

Maybe, to keep up with the new Pentax naming standards, and to avoid
further confusion, we should say 'I have a trinity of LX*'.

I sold mine to a fellow photographer close to 15 years ago. He figures he

It has never failed to work, has never been in for service, and is still
