Not usually - cookies can let individual websites track you to a limited 
extent, but for full-on Big Brother, the spyware installs itself on your 
local machine and hooks its claws directly into your web browser. :-)

Of course, there's the issue that most spyware is Windows-only... ;-)

They can work out which country you're in by your IP address, with a 
high level of accuracy.

Strange. I have Realone Player for Macintosh vers 9.0 and none of this
happens. If I click on a video link, it downloads a small file of just a
few kilobytes and I double-click on that to start the video streaming. If
I play a CD, it doesn't open at all. Perhaps you have to go into Real
prefs and uncheck the 'open when inderting a CD' box?

That's odd... I just went to the page, clicked on the link, and RealPlayer
popped up to play it.  My firewall verified that I wanted to allow RP to
access the net, but there weren't any problems.

Cotty,
RealPlayer is not something I would like to install on my computer. It is
loaded with ad/spyware and tends to interefere with other programs.
I'm really surprised that BBC don't offer alternative media players. :-(
