It's about the right size for a Lab, but the coat is brown black.
I don't think it's a Rottweiler, the body is kind of lanky.

My guess is Bloodhound.

BTW, have you tried running the pic through Noise Ninja or Neat Image?

Thanks Shel for your input. Here is a closer crop (@ 200%) in its
 original state:

 http://www.g0nz.com/images/sleepy3.jpg

I played around with it alot trying to get the crop + the detail that I
wanted to convey. But alas, what I really needed was a longer and
brighter lens. A 135/2.5 would have been nice in this case. The
grain from the high iso really obscures what would have been a much
 better pic.

This fellow likes to watch people go by near a church in a small village
in Mexico. He was keeping his eye on me, I had been snapping pics all
around him when I thought that maybe he wasnt looking and I snapped
this. But when I looked closer, I realized that he was still looking at
me with his eyes half closed. It was almost dusk, so I had to use iso
3200 on the *istD, hence the graininess of the pic.

Comments welcome.

Very nicely composed, lots of atmosphere, I think the
grain/noise actually adds to the effect.

RE: PESO: I'm watching you

2005-04-08 Thread Shel Belinkoff
I don't know how I feel about this one. At one viewing I like it, another
time I don't. One thing I'm almost sure of, the noise and grain and lack
of detail really takes away from the impact it could have. Not being able
to clearly see what may arguably be the most important aspect of the photo,
that small piece which tells the story, is a real detriment.

I like the position of the fellow, his relationship to the building and the
steps, and the off kilter angle of the steps, and the photo could be quite
strong were it not for the noise and the grain.

Also, since this was taken at dusk, and the light was low, the photo may
look better a little darker. I did a quick fiddle with it, and seeing the
mans complexion and jacket a little darker made the photo feel more alive
and interesting.

It's a good photo, perhaps more in its potential than its actualization.
Right now I'm liking it more than when i started this message.

Fascinating. I think that I'd rather you cleaned up an noise a little on
his face... For the rest, the noise is just fine.

Noise aside, I really like this one. But then again, just yesterday I
was walking the streets of Ramla market doing something at least
remotely similar. So my opinion is biased.

Very well done. I think I would shy away in this case...
