Re: PESO: Shame and Sorrow
Thanks for everyone for the comments. I am feeling a bit more confident :) But honestly these times I have days when I go to have a photowalk, coming home with 200 exposures but no pictures. I just can't find that little extra in them that satisfies my taste. It's like a midlife crisis :D About the title of this picture... Shame and Sorrow. When I saw this guy what came to my mind is how sad that anyone has to live like this (and there are people living with even worse conditions) and honestly I felt ashamed for 'our society'. So the title is more of my feelings I had when took the picture. Thanks again for the comments I really needed them. And I promise to give a try for a BW version ;) .t On Fri, 2011-05-13 at 18:53 +0300, Boris Liberman wrote: On 5/12/2011 22:01, Peter Zalabai wrote: Hi, From my latest Thames Path walk... http://www.flickr.com/photos/timbah/5711189051/ Please be brutal with your critique as recently I feel I need a lot of feedback to be able to improve my photography... Re: PESO: Shame and Sorrow - BW
Timber, it still looks obviously processed as the contrast is quite high in a bit unnatural way, to my eyes at least. Yet, it is a good picture that might evoke serious reaction from the viewer. Well done, I say. Re: PESO: Shame and Sorrow
It's a nice shot. It does have a feeling of sadness, maybe desperation rather than shame. How about Quiet Desperation as a title? I don't see a lot to criticize here. It's a good photo of a tough subject. I guess there are few lonelier places for a down-and-outer than a big city (maybe that's Ann's irony?) and if that's what you set out to capture, you've done it very well. Personally, I'd have probably converted it to monochrome, but it certainly works as presented.
