I like it. I also like monopods.  Easy enough to carry so I actually take it. 
It also makes a good weapon if the berries attack.

version (that I think I prefer).  I'll delete the original from my
blog in a few days and go with the adjusted one.

P.S. In Phoenix, at my sister's, with the camera with me at all times. Playing 
around with guessing light values and setting aperture, shutter, and 
sensitivity manually. Most of the opportunities so far, people and animals 
aside, have not been especially interesting. Nor have the results, at least on 
the first try. The thought is that with the instantaneous feedback of digital 
I'll get better.

there are a few Leki walking sticks that have a camera mount; i have an 
older one and never liked putting a camera on it; perhaps with a 
tilt-head and quick-release that would be better, but then it might seem 
awkward for walking ...

 I won't recommend any particular brand.  Just pick one with sturdy 
locks and leg sections, otherwise it will collapse on you when you least 
expect it, and the worst possible time.

The Bogen 321x series works very well, especially three-section ones (as 
opposed to the four section ones).  I think 3216 is the model number 
now.  Mine is a black one, and I ordered it as 3218, but that model 
number didn't show up in the catalog the last time I checked, a few 
months ago.

It helps a lot.  I always carry a grey card with me, and especially tend to use

I just did a quick Google search.  The one I have is the 3218 and 
Adorama still lists it:

BH, on the other hand, seems to now use Manfrotto numbers.  I think the 
one I have is the 681b, but I'm not positive.


I use it with a Bogen 3262 medium ball head most of the time, with a 
400/5.6 mounted on it.

Very pretty.  But the color balance looks a little wonky.


 
 They're tiny little things, about 1/4 or 3/8ths of an inch in
 diameter.  If anyone knows what they are let me know.
