If I don't want to seem a mediocre photographer, I probably should have looked at it before posting an insect photo myself and waited a couple days for people's standards to drop back closer to normal. Thanks, Dan! It helps when the horsefly decides to land on the side of a red Cadillac. As for the color, the lighting was nice today: a good overcast day at the time I took the shot, so the lighting is nice. There was another horsefly -- an almost solid black one -- resting on the black trim along the fender well, but I couldn't get a good shot as it seemed to blend in too much with the trim, and it was tough to get and keep good focus.
