The natural shapes of the palms provides for a nice counterpoint to the regularity and repetition of the sailboat masts. Gorgeous light on the water too. Lighting, especially with reflections, is very nice. I'd have to crop out the lower right boat transom and suck up the scene. Then moving slightly to the left and shooting back a little to the right to get more of a look at the transom line of the string of boats on the right. Maybe I'd hate the result.(??) RE: PESO - Two palm trees
I disagree. When I first looked at the picture my eye was drawn straight to the palm trees. I think it's a very well composed photograph, and a good example of how a small element, well placed, can dominate the picture. The control over the exposure is very good too - I think Boris has taken full advantage of the light to produce a good photo. -- Bob -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Kenneth Waller Sent: 06 January 2007 18:41 To: Pentax-Discuss Mail List Subject: Re: PESO - Two palm trees Since you've titled this Two Palm trees, I'd have to say that the lines of boats are a distraction. This photo is from the same shoot as the other slightly blurred one, isn't it? BTW I'm not bothered by this, I'm just curious. Perhaps this tells us something? Why this moment of light theraultianism? Could your SR be malfunctioning in some situations? If so, why? Re: PESO - Two palm trees
Boris, nice mood shot. I like this one better than the flamingos (if that means anything to you). I like you mentioned, did not notice the an until others mentioned him, and I agree with Bob that you did a good job on the exposure, I know that if I were there I would have underexposed, and then I would be left with a too dark picture ( http://www.avocadohead.com/piclinks/pic11.html ). Again, nice mood shot, with the inclusion of the two lone palms, it reminds me of Corpus Christi, Texas (which is good memory, btw). russ On 1/5/07, Boris Liberman [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: http://not.contaxg.com/document.php?id=16107full=1 As usual brutal and honest comments are the best ;-). Re: PESO - Two palm trees
Ya know, for many years I'd heard that word used in reference to the motor mounting board or aft end of a boat. I just looked it up for the first time and it may derive from one definition of, a horizontal cross piece.(?) Re: PESO - Two palm trees
Hi! Great shot if you ask me. Geat sky! I just didn't see the red guy, and I believe cropping him off would result in a cropped boat, too, and that will probably be much worse IMHO. Too bad the two palm trees were not a bit more on the right, say, closer to the right boats instead of the left ones (but not as close). Regards Patrice Markus Maurer a écrit : I would like it more if the man on the right corner was cut away and again the photo looks a bit blurred to me. But the trees are nice indeed Boris :-) greetings Markus -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Boris Liberman Sent: Saturday, January 06, 2007 7:05 AM To: Pentax-Discuss Mail List Subject: PESO - Two palm trees http://not.contaxg.com/document.php?id=16107full=1 As usual brutal and honest comments are the best ;-). Re: PESO - Two palm trees
I like the concept. I'm not sure if the trees are strong enough to command the attention as the subject. Especially as the leading lines don't quite lead to them. If they were placed a little to the right (you'd have to move - can't actually move the trees grin) the leading lines of boats would work better. -- Bruce Friday, January 5, 2007, 10:05:26 PM, you wrote: BL http://not.contaxg.com/document.php?id=16107full=1 BL As usual brutal and honest comments are the best ;-).
