Re: PESOs (4) - Central Severne

2018-10-20 Thread Daniel J. Matyola
images, whether of urban subjects or otherwise, don't have to be
"attractive" to be interesting and effective. Some of the images I took in
Athens, for example, and my images of vultures on deer carcasses were far
from attractive, but I enjoyed taking them and presenting them to others.
The same goes for "kitsch." It may not be to my taste, or yours, but it
still can make a powerful image.

Not even I could be satisfied taking nothing but beautiful Maui sunsets.

Oh I kinda like the- sign- .. its funny .  I just find that building
uglyand not interesting at all. But your comment that you wouldn't want
to have it across the street confirms my faith in your taste :-)

although I found your definition that included "interest"  in a couple
of places, this is howI think of it..  something can be interesting
without being pleasing..
but to be attractive most of the sources on line (multiple
dictionaries)  imply pleasing.

at·trac·tive
/adjective/

1.
(of a thing) pleasing or appealing to the senses.
   "an attractive home"
 *
(of a person) appealing to look at; sexually alluring.
   "an attractive, charismatic man"

“Attractive” according to Webster’s means “arousing interest or pleasure.”
Those may be present in varying proportions.

So yes, I found it attractive.

(I’ll bet Ashley found the sign attractive, too).

You have a knack photographing cities! I can well imagine a medieval tax
collector would have a house like that. The canal shot is interesting -
on's eye makes the railings horizontal so the boat looks like it is going
uphill.
